The 23 year old emcee rapidly gained attention from a diverse group of listeners with the release of his debut mixtape "Military Kids" in June 2012. With production from I.D. Labs to Canadian producer LJ along side notable cosigns from 9th Wonder, Smoke Dza, and Big K.R.I.T. The carolina native debut is nothing short of a must have. Jarell Darious Downing (born January 24, 1992) known by his stage name “Rello” started rapping at the age of 13, in 2007 he placed 3rd in a talent show in his home town of Jacksonville, NC. The song performed that night titled “Watchu Lookin At” was picked up by radio stations and Djs across Eastern Carolina. His musical influences are hip-hop greats Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, Bone Thugs n Harmony and 50 cent. Growing up in the military backwoods of Jacksonville NC, Rello quickly became a local sensation through Myspace. Before embarking on a solo career in 2010 Rello was apart of a group project entitled “Paint The World Green”. In the fall of 2010 Rello continued to build onto his arsenal by dropping “Thumbs Up Vol. 1 & 2”, interviewing with local radio stations, blogs and passing out his mixtapes at different tour stops across the eastern coast. He continued to keep his wave going by gaining a fanbase leaking numerous songs via facebook, twitter and other social media outlets while working on his mixtape Military Kids. In 2011 he signed to Rocstar Live, an independent record label and entertainment company. Since then Rello accomplished opening for hip-hop artist Curren$y, Smoke DZA, King Mez, and Duke athlete rap sensation Mike Stud. On his 20th birthday he got a treat from the staff at Karmaloop and was featured in his own segment on KarmaloopTV. Rello released his debut studio mixtape with Rocstar Live on June 21st 2012 entitled “Military Kids” with 12 original tracks and notable guest appearances by 9th Wonder, Smoke Dza, Nesby Phips, YG, and Big K.R.I.T. Since the release of "Military Kids" Rello has been actively working on his next project, "The Bigger Picture". Rello moved to Canada in January 2014 to work with his life-long producer/engineer/best friend, The LJ, for the first time in person. Since the move to Canada, Rello has linked up with some super producers and buzzing artists. His latest collab comes from Scholar Entertainments first mixtape featuring NIKO IS, signed to Talib Kweli, and 4th Pyramid, well known in Toronto. Rapidly gaining a buzz on the internet, Rello is putting his finishing touches on "The Bigger Picture", so stay tuned for that.
