Bio

Remi Harris is an exciting young guitarist and composer, he is widely regarded as one of the UK’s Top Gypsy Jazz Guitarists as well as being an accomplished Electric Guitarist.

Remi is self taught, he began playing the guitar aged 7 and has been performing in public since the age of 11.

“Remi is the brightest talent in his genre (Gypsy Jazz) in the UK. His performance at the IGGF 2012 was one of the finest I’ve seen since founding the festival 12 years ago. Remi has it all, including a great future!” - Stuart Carter-Smith, founder of The International Gypsy Guitar Festival

“This young guy is seriously good… Harris’ virtuosity is stunning. A player of skill and versatility, he is destined for a bigger stage.” - thejazzmann.co.uk

Born in 1988 to a French Mother and English Father he grew up in an extremely creative environment with both of his parents being artists. It was almost a foregone conclusion that Remi would become a musician though when they named him after the 2nd and 3rd notes of the major scale “Do “Re Mi” Fa So La Ti Do”.

“I played with Remi recently… he is a tremendously gifted young player with an awesome command of Gypsy Jazz guitar. Certainly made me buck up!” – John Etheridge

Remi has a great appreciation for art and music of all types, he has and continues to study and draw inspiration from many areas of the artistic world, letting it all influence and shape his playing and composing.

Remi has performed extensively throughout the UK and France, some of these perforances include… Buckingham Palace - Terry Wogan Show, BBC Radio 2 - Hay-On-Wye Festival - Festival Django Reinhardt, Samois Sur Seine, France - Hereford Cathedral - Brecon Cathedral - Birmingham Town Hall - Le Quecumbar London - Upton Jazz Festival - Musique-Cordiale Festival, Seillans, France - Bournemouth Opera House. He has also had his music played on BBC Radio 6, Planet Rock Radio, TSF France and many other regional radio stations in the UK and Europe.

"Hard work and dedication to his craft has made Remi Harris one of the finest jazz guitarist in the uk and one to be admired greatly, he truly is a "Musician's musician" - Jazz in the Foyer

Some of the artists he has worked with include: John Etheridge, Gary Potter, Dan Cassidy, Alan Barnes, Tina May, Robin Nolan, Christiaan Van Hemert, Bob Brozman, Deborah Rose, Ben Holder and Martin Limberger.

“Remi is definitely, in my view one of the most talented British players, if not “THE” most talented of the young generation. He plays gypsy jazz with profound respect and a maturity so rare among young players. I am sure he will go far!” – Godefroy Maruejouls

“A 60 year old soul trapped in a 20 year old body. With a facility that would be astonishing at any age! I’ve been a part of the NYC studio scene for 30+ years and believe me, players like Remi are few and far between.” – Kenny White

“After many years of doing sound for thousands of bands and hearing hundreds of great guitar players Remi Harris left me stunned and lost for words…I think that was the best night I’ve had at the Club” - Stuart Marshall, Keighley Blues Club
