Remote Wonder

Remote Wonder 9/10

Remote Wonder bash out a charmingly slapdash sound reminiscent of the style recently made famous by bands like the Kaiser Chiefs. Imagine the Kaisers with more heart and less money in the old recording jar and you have yourself some idea of what this Canadian three piece can muster. Songs like ‘Ambush Bug’ with it’s cheeky keyboard base and bounding delivery and the catchy as hell ‘Add It Up’. The vocals are gravely yet slightly off the hook, making for a great contrast in songs such as ‘Sister Sister’ and the driving ‘Snap Shot’. This is a strong album full of songs brief enough to keep you yearning for more. There are less memorable efforts scattered about yet with the short song timings they are gone and forgotten before you know it. Finally a new wave/indie band with enough heart and a shimmering lack of pretentiousness everyone can enjoy. Well done Remote Wonder. Check out: ‘Add It Up’

"Remote Wonder"

"WOW!!"

"We always like to end with a bang and last night, Remote Wonder did just that. Literally. Guitars were meant to be replaced anyway…right? Anyway, these three Torontonians are about more than just sassy outfits and silly interludes, they've got a surreal style, blending sounds from a plethora of decades and genres. They got fast beats and even quicker wit, and frankly they couldn't get more Canadian with their satirical lyrics. Lead singer Christian Rogers almost has a Rocky Horror sense to his voice that makes you want to hear him burst out into the Time Warp but their tunes are more of a mix of fast rock and Pop Goes the World-type spunk. Kudos to the band for another stellar and original performance and for making it to the finals as another wildcard pick by the Supernova staff." - super nova
