Biography

The one thing I enjoy more than a great verse is an even better chorus. I love a four minute song that makes you want to sing it back for twenty.* - Kurtis

Hailing from Enfield, Connecticut, RENATA is a story of five best friends who met in high school and began on a journey the way they imagined it. *The ultimate goal of this journey has always been to write great songs," says singer Kurtis. *We love pop music, but even more, we love the challenge of creating our own sound of integrity. A sound where honesty connects the interlude to that third gigantic chorus. A song with hooks, that aren*t just surrounded by intros, and bridges, but by good days and bad days.*

RENATA has been awarded "Best Original Rock Band" in the Hartford Advocate's 2001 Readers Poll and appeared on CBS for winning the "Best Pop Rock Band," and "Best Male Vocalist" in the Hartford Advocate's 2002 Reader's Poll. In 2003 they were also awarded *Best Pop Rock Band,* and *Best Male Vocalist*.

Connecticut's two largest commercial radio stations, 96.5 TIC-FM and Kiss 95.7 FM have showed them much support. They have made several appearances on the "Gary Craig Morning Show," as well as giving their music daytime rotation. "Their music has an emotion that is indescribable", says Gary Craig. The stations have put them on numerous large scale events including Avril Lavigne, Ashlee Simpson, and Sky Sweetman. The band has also been on the road with Dana Glover, The Stills, Gary Jules, Pat McGee Band, and many other national recording artists. WMRQ is also a huge fan of the music, "If you like the CD then wait till you check these guys out live!" says radio 104's Cousin Chris, who has included r e n a t a in over 7 radio station sponsored events and shows.

"We are perfectionists," says Mike. "We are never completely satisfied, and when we are, it doesn't last for long."

Gone

Written By: RENATA

music by RENATA
words by Kurtis

You don't know what I've been through
The surface is clean here, but not underneath
I've been fighting so long
And not yet been able to surrender these arms
I've locked so much inside me
The only escape may be to break yourself free

Time goes on
There's nothing we can do
To bring back what's gone
Time goes on
There's nothing we can do
But do what we love to
Time goes on

You don't know what I go through
The bottle is empty, so bare with me please
And nothing scares me more than
The razor that cuts me apart at the seems

Time goes on
There's nothing we can do
To bring back what's gone
Time goes on
There's nothing we can do
But do what we love to
Time goes on

You know, I'll be there for you
You know, I'll be there for you

Blind eyes can see so much
And yes my souls been tattooed in blood
But somehow I've swam beyond this flood
And all I've done

Time goes on
There's nothing we can do
To bring back what's gone
Time goes on
There's nothing we can do
But do what we love to
But do what we love to
But do what we love to
But do what we love to do, yeah
Time goes on
Time goes on
What's gone is gone

The Heights

Written By: RENATA

music by RENATA
words by Kurtis

You are the only thing that I adore
And it's you that I thank god
I've been blessed for
Life is all ours if you wait and see
It's here because of you
Stuck here with me
Girl, I'd walk on burning stones
For you I'd bare my feet these wounds
You're a dream come true
The heights are calling us baby
Just the way we imagined they've lifted us weightless
The heights are calling us baby
Just the way we imagined they've lifted us weightless

Love, the one thing that I came here for
And it's you that I adore
And you know that well
Time is all I'm asking for
I promise you the world I swear
If you just weight here

The heights are calling us baby
Just the way we imagined they've lifted us weightless
While the night is still young, we will come down from
The heights that have lifted us weightless

I will never let them break these walls
Thank God we built, yeah we built them up so tall

The heights are calling our name
There calling our name
There calling our name
Higher, Higher, Higher, whoah
Higher, Higher, Higher, whoah
Higher, Higher, Higher, whoah

The heights are calling us baby
Remember when they said
We'd drive ourselves crazy
They couldn't have been more wrong
Couldn't have been more wrong
Could they baby, ah yeah, the heights, I climb for you

Life is all ours if you wait and see
It's here because of you
Stuck here with me
Whoah, Whoah,
The heights, I climb for you

Lights of London

Written By: RENATA

music by RENATA
words by Kurtis

Naked you stand in the doorway
Waiting for something to make us the same
And this has been a long year, yeah
My fathers been sick and I'm mad at the world
So I close my eyes at night
And wonder if death brings us closer to life

You shine like the lights of London
It's a brightness these eyes keep finding there way
Shine away, shine away
With the lights of London

And I'll toe the weight of my world
Around on my shoulders till it breaks my back
Of coarse I dream of the future
Only a fool would not dream of that
And it hurts so bad
To have what I've got and not know what I have

You shine like the lights of London
It's a brightness these eyes keep finding there way
Shine away, shine away
With the lights of London, London, London

You sit at the bar with your heart in a glass
Filled up with something you can't swallow back
Your friends, there having the time of there lives
There you are, in the way that you shine
The way that you shine

You shine like the lights of London
It's a brightness these eyes keep finding there way
Shine away, shine away
With the lights of London

You shine like the lights of London
You shine like the lights of London
You shine like the lights of London
With the lights of London
