Bio

My name is Maurice Jamaal Tiggett I am a Christian, and my mission is to spread the word of god to everyone. My church home is Victory Christian Center "The Church that the word is building" this is where I'm feed and get my influence. What sets me apart from everyone else the direction of my music, I speak about what Christ warns, what he does in my life, and what the bible says. Recently I have begun to take the messages taught in Church every Sunday, And put them in music form. It is my belief that if the youth of today will not listen to preaching, they find it boring and cannot relate. I myself had trouble focusing on the message as a teen and early twenties. I was raised in the Church as a child until the age of 17, I then enlisted in the United States Navy and was sent to California. Like I said before at that age it was hard for me to understand god and could not relate to the message being taught in church, Now being away from home in a state where I knew no one I stopped going all together. I would always listen to rap music, never thought I would actually be writing and recording it until i met Micheal Overton. He was attempting to become a secular artist and encouraged me to write my first verse for a song he was doing. The verse was a hit everyone liked it so I was inspired to do more, This went on for a year. I wrote a lot of gangster lyrics me being from philly it was expected of me to represent, the trend of the city which is violence and death. That wasn't me as time went on I began to listen to my own lyrics in disbelief. I couldn't relate nor did I believe in the music I was putting out until one day when i got a feeling to go a different direction. God was pulling on my heart and the messages i used to fall asleep on in Church started to come back to me. I wrote my first Christian song entitled my job, it was like i was remembering my purpose on this earth. I received Jesus Christ as my lord and savior at the age of 13 with full understanding of what it meant. But needless to say not everyone was feeling this new change, it was giving the feeling that they were doing wrong and had to answer for it. I struggled with both sides for a couple of months before moving back to Philadelphia due to living situations in California. Back in Philly I began to go to Church again and the feeling to make Christian music came back stronger than before, to the point where i decided that this was all I was going to produce that was in 2005. I wrote a lot of music but could not record it due to studio cost, I kept writing anyway and began to hear messages about a new generation of preachers set to come forth in the near future. I feel god is calling me to my destiny, and it was placed on my heart to submit a demo to cross movement records. I've prayed and still it remained the same,
I don't know god is taking me I am just being obedient to what he says.Thank you for listening Maurice Tiggett (951) 492-5399 or (267) 444-3365).
