The Resonance Steelband is just one outlet of Resonance percussion, an exciting world percussion ensemble that performs the percussion music of many cultures from around the world. Members have studied steel drumming and percussion music and performed on stages on five different continents around the globe.
Locally, Resonance has performed at Slippery Rock University, Robert Morris University, the University of Pittsburgh, West Virginia University, the Community College of Allegheny County, the Andy Warhol Museum, the National Aviary, the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and the Pittsburgh Zoo.
The members of Resonance are gifted professional musicians in the Pittsburgh area who are truly experienced in bringing the right sound and atmosphere to many different performance occasions. Members also perform regulary with the River City Brass Band, Sputzy and the Soul Providers, Olga Watkins and her Soul Kitchen Band, Tony Janflone, Jr., the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, John McDonald and the Mango Men and Dr. Kwasi and the Islanders.
Also, since its inception Resonance has had educational outreach at its core. Each year Resonance performs for thousands of school aged children with its assembly program Caribbean Traditions, a program that traces the history of the steel drum all the way from its African roots to the contemporary sound of todays steel bands.
