"South Carolina’s Respect N Salute Are Looking For A “Homie Lover Friend”"

The Carolinas seems to have a few hidden gems buried in the mud. And up next, is Duncan, South Carolina’s Doc Deezy and Cease — collectively known as Respect N Salute.

The duo has been on their grind for a while now. And it looks like they have a track that contains all of the ingredients for a hit song: gripping storyline, mature content, memorable hook, and solid lyrics.

With that, Respect N Salute gave VIBE the permission to premiere their new track and video dubbed, “Homie Lover Friend (HLF).” The visuals follows a young lady who is in a deleterious relationship with her man as well as turning tricks for rent money.

“The storyline we originally pitched was real cliche. It actually mirrored the song to the T,” Doc Deezy said via email. “We had a woman who was unhappy with her situation at home, and found interest in a guy who became her “Homie Lover Friend”. Dontell (director) actually hated the idea. He felt the song could have more of an impact if we created a story line that would cause people to “feel”. It emotionally strikes a nerve and keeps viewers tuned in the whole 4:30 minutes.”

The group has opened up for artists like Ciara, Young Dro, Plies, Rick Ross, among others. With their gripping subject matter and melodic raps, music lovers should definitely keep an eye for Respect N Salute. - Vibe

"Respect N Salute's "Homie, Lover, Friends" Will Be Stuck In Your Head All Day"

South Carolina-duo Respect N Salute probably isn’t on your radar. They probably should be. “Homie, Lover, Friends” is infectious, leaning on 90’s R&B rhythms, modern auto-tune, and car-ready rhyme schemes, setting the stage for in-whip belly-smacking (or something like that). Doc Deezy and Cease forged their creative relationship in a Spartanburg, SC barbershop (Wofford represent), and have since taken their talents to the West Coast. Flame or Lame? Bio

The forgotten state of the South seems to be hiding a few reminders in a small town called Duncan, South Carolina. Hip Hop group RESPECT N SALUTE's origin dates back to the summer of 2005 where the group would be formed at the happenings of a studio session at a local barbershop in Spartanburg, South Carolina. From this day forward, original members Boski, Cease, and Doc Deezy would go on to release two mixtapes entitled “The Movement Volume I” and “W.A.I.T.” (We All In Together). The group went on to perform at a series of local spots and showcases around the South East Region, gaining notable recognition during the time of each release. Starting in 2011 the group began opening up for several well-known artists that came through clubs and venues such as Ciara, Young Dro, Plies, Alley Boy, & Rick Ross.

Taking time away from the South, RNS has found a new source of inspiration over the past couple years in California (Sacramento & Los Angeles respectively). Now back with their latest project “The Summer” EP and single entitled “Homie, Lover, Friends” exclusively released on Vibe.com, rap duo Doc Deezy and Cease are set to campaign their new sound on a major scale.

Sharp flows and melodic tunes can be expected. The rappers have deep southern influenced lyrics remaining true to the classic southern mc, but are far from limited. Providing truth and relativeness to both the street and pop culture are their strengths. Their diversity is at an all-time high. The artists complement each other well on every track with comparisons to the Multi-Grammy Award Winning Hip Hop Group “Outkast”. RESPECT N SALUTE looks to make their own mark in Hip Hop History as one of the best to ever do it.
