"buy it at insound/get it on itunes"

Brooklyn based band Retrospectro blend psych-pop with indie rock with infectious vocals that immediately remid one of a mixture of bob dylan and lou reed. The songs are bubbly riff with melodic flavors that swirl about and tantalize the listener. It has the feel of a lo-fi apartment recorded joint though. The combination of great songwriting and downhome sensibilities give this indie pop album the proper boost that is needed in the crowded new york music scene. - smother magazine

"Retrospectro/Anodyne"

This brooklyn band is a real hoot. A curious and original mix of power pop and garage rock, with nasal vocals halfway between bob dylan and lou reed and a velvet underground vibe in songs like "anna anna anna". Retrospectro represents creative New York City at its snottiest. Backing up their simple yet satisfyingly twisted songs are humming layers of acoustic and electric guitars with an element of trance, along with subtle surf licks and organ chords-familiar parts, with recognizable bits of sixties, seventies and nineties styles, making up an altogether fresh sound.
"Sleepwalking" and "Rapid" which open the cd are especially catchy. "peace and love" and "anna anna anna" are also very good songs, and
i liked the closer, "take it or leave it" a Rolling stones cover. The remaining three are weaker. But there's a lot to like in any handful of this music.
listen at cd baby.

"spotlight/ Meet the punk renaissance"

Williamburg, brooklyn, is the capital of the universe for experimental, indie rock. These streets bred interpol, warped punks Yeah Yeah yeahs, and the noise loving Tv on the Radio. Everyday more bands flock to the area to take part in the renaissance of willamsburg. One of the most talented of which happens to be a punk quartet called RETROSPECTRO Formed by singer/guitarist/songwriter and go go dancer
/tamborine player Danielle Guillet, Retrospectro played their first show at the nyc club The Delancey. The 40
person stood bored and unassuming at first but was met not by a band of
amatuers ripping off their elders as punk music normally constitutes, yet
by a bold mix of psychedelic, experimental fueled psycho pop, mixing the effects, drenched tones of
sonic youth with old school songwriting reminiscent of television
and the velvet underground. Yet,despite the bands experimental credentials, they aren't all about psychedelic and artsy punk. When Nestor writes songs,it sounds like he isn't looking so much for the whacky noises you've heard before but for the hook that makes you comfortable enough to keep listening
despite the sonic catharsis surrounding you. With danceable grooves and hook filled choruses. Retrospectro is a band that your little
sister will love just as much as your art school buddies. - The Aquarian/ by chriss castro
