"Live Show Review"

With five years of journalistic integrity supporting my unsubstantiated opinions on the showmanship and musicianship of live acts, I still strive to articulate what is the abstract ‘it’ that supercedes talent, charisma, skill, musical theory competency and all the technical bullshit people advocate as the defining, the crucial ‘thing’ that makes a band great. Ever so often I find myself peering with bewilderment at a band that has, ‘it’. I watch these creature’s hands ascending and descending the neck of their instruments, in majestic synchronization. As alcohol imbibing dilettantes and savants react to the performance, I know this band (Rev) has ‘it’.

I’m locked in a staring contest with my computer screen, searching for the words to define, to accurately articulate what attributes constitute the ‘it’. I fumble across they keys, struggling to put into words the feelings felt while absorbing a Rev show. Their show is an act of sexually explicit debauchery. It was an act of merciless fuck you rock ‘n’ roll.

With talent far surpassing many of the bands in the Diego bar scene, this band exemplifies unrestrained musical expression. They seduce the ladies and instigate those in the pit. They call for unadulterated mayhem as beer and whiskey flow into the guts of onlookers. Their ‘no bull shit’ rock with stylistic integrity.

Rev couples hard rock riffs with rhythmic beats and soulful lyrical content. There a band you need to feel. Feel in the same way you fuck. Stand real close, keep your eyes locked and don’t lie about the outcome.

The band has something for everyone interested in the amalgamation of hard rock and metal. Rev strives to provide a show which girls can dance and strip to, while others mosh till they are exhausted in a state of drunken disarray.

"CD Review"

Here's what Revolt In Style had to say about Rev in their February/March issue:

"This San Diego based band combines classic 90's heavy metal with hard rock feel and keeps it energetic. Also in their live performances they maintain that high energy presence. Keep your eye on this band San Diego. They made it in 4 out of 5 on 105.3 FM's The Mikey Show on their Best Of in San Diego edition. You can check it out at The popularity of this band is growing so I am sure you will be seeing these guys around a lot more. Everyone I talk to in the music scene knows these guys and the CD rocks. If your heart is into heavy guitar bass-lines and guitar chords then this is your band. The vocals are extremely versatile and are shared between Mike Peters-bassist and Justin Warrick-Guitarist..."

"The psychedelic guitar riffs and soundscapes are played by Steve Aguirre and the drums and other cool shit are played by Brian Barth. You gotta check these guys out and find out why everyone is talking about these guys. Log onto their website at to find out where you can catch a show and find out more about the band." - Revolt Instyle Magazine

"Roxy bodog battle of the bands Review"

The Bodog Music $1 Million dollar battle in Los Angeles kicked off it's second show in as many nights with another furious battle of talented musicians. The Roxy again hosts the battle to end them all, as it continues all summer long hosting the finest bands in the independent scene. These artists all set out to prove they are worth Bodog's attentino and CEO Calvin Ayre's million dollar contract.

The inaugural battle was a fight to be remembered and while only one will remain when the smoke clears, each band playing in this historic venue will make their mark in music history playing in this revolutionary competition.

The band that won the nights competition was Rev, a San Diego based band that made them known above all the other competitors. Their originality, talent and overall presence impressed both the fans and judges earning them one of the first spots in the second round, "In the Trenches" that will commence this fall. - Bodog Music

EP "For Sale" in regular rotation on Rock 105.3 in San Diego, a major market Clear Channel station

Formed in 2003, REV has been conquering the independent Hard Rock scene in Southern California with much success. After performing in a showcase for LA Music Awards in late 2006, REV single handedly earned themselves a nomination for a Showcase Series LA Music Award. In a category filled with several other Independent bands, REV deservingly, walked away with the award for Independent Hard Rock Artist of the Year. Vocalist/Guitarist for REV, Justin Warrick, also walked away with the award for Independent Hard Rock Male Vocalist of the year, an accomplishment his band mates, Steve Aguirre (Guitar/Vocals), Brian Barth (Drums/Vocals) and Shawn Ballard (bassist) were excited to share with him.

Although REV has had no label support, their first studio effort “For Sale”, ( which was recorded with veteran producer/engineer Steve Russell -P.O.D, As I Lay Dying, and Finch- in 2005), has become a fan favorite and continues to grace the airwaves, in regular rotation, on several major-market radio stations in Southern California. The success of their first released EP was welcomed, with much affection, but it’s REV’s live shows that really show where their heart is. Their passion for the stage and their hard work ethic, have driven them to financially support their own relentless touring schedule. Taking the stage and wowing the crowd in numerous cities from Oakland, CA all the way through to Austin, TX has proven to be nothing short of beneficial and satisfying. Having shared the stage with such acts as Clutch, High on Fire, Bleed the Sky, Opiate for the Masses, Gilby Clarke, The Sword, and 2 Cents, to name a few, REV’s live show is a powerful experience that keeps fans multiplying, and coming back for more!

Even though each member of REV individually brings their own recipe for solid song writing to the table, it’s the four of them as a whole which puts the icing on the proverbial cake. Stemming from their own roots, Arkansas raised Warrick, Illinois bred Barth, and Southern California natives Aguirre, and Ballard join together their extensive musical influences and backgrounds to form their own style of Hard Rocking Guitar riffs and melodic harmonies, accompanied by explosive drums and intense bass lines, not to be over shadowed by expressive lyrics derived from the core of the band.

With upcoming shows throughout California and another self promoted/financed tour this summer, REV is currently wrapping up material for a new album due out in mid 2007.
