Revel

Revel

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

Revel is a traditional power-rock trio with gospel and punk elements. Stong songwriting...male and female lead vocalists...slashing guitar, intuitive drums, and a lovely girl with a beautiful bass line.

Biography

Revel hails from the tradition of the power-rock trio ...Cream, Hendrix, the Who...but with a strong female presence. Kelly and David have a Lennon/McCartney-like singing/songwriting partnership but play like the Rolling Stones. Originally from the same hometown, they have worked with each other on individual projects for years. It was only when they both moved to NY that they decided to join forces and create Revel. After an exhaustive search, they were blessed with the arrival of Irishman James Carroll, and everything fell perfectly into place.

Lyrics

Filthy

Written By: Kelly Britton

He said hey baby, what you gonna do
You got no job and you can’t screw
you can’t do dishes you can’t tie your shoes
can’t figure out what I saw in you…

Chorus
You’re so Filthy, can’t you see
you’re so Filthy, a girl like me
Filthy he said, you’re a dirty swine
and I think I’m gonna hit you one more time….

Once I played in the golden sun
Had my dreams like everone
now I wait in this venom bed
hopin’ his fist don’t hit my head

Chorus
Cuz I’m filthy, can’t you see
I’m so filthy, a girl like me
filthy he said you’re a dirty swine
and I think he’s gonna hit me, one more time.

Baby’s cryin’ her diapers wet
dinners not quite ready yet
I’m afraid to burn it, don’t know what I’ll get
the floor’s as clean as it can get

Chorus
But it was filthy, can’t you see
it was so filthy, just like me
filthy, he said, you’re a dirty swine
but he ain’t gonna hit me, one more time

Nobody told me life would be like this
livin’ my life for your sorry kiss
my friends went away with all their dreams
now I pray they just hear me scream

Chorus
He’s so filthy, can’t you see
He’s so filthy, just like me
but even though, he might have been a dirty swine
mussolini made the trains run on time.

Brokenhearted

Written By: Kelly Britton

My lord is close to the broken hearted
to the junkies and the beggars and the down-and-out saints
My lord is close to the broken hearted
to those who feel their suffering and those who can’t

Chorus
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust.
My lord is waiting to shed his blood.

My lord is close to the broken hearted
to the liars and the cheaters who pass on all their pain
My lord is close to the broken hearted
to the just and the wicked who give themselves in vain

Chorus
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust.
My lord is waiting to shed his blood.

My lord is close to the broken hearted
to the junkies and the beggars and the down-and-out saints
My lord is close to the broken hearted
to the just and the wicked who give themselves in vain

Chorus
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust.
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
My lord is waiting to shed his blood.

In the garden

Written By: Kelly Britton*

I waited all night in the darkness, just to see the morning dove
I couldn’t believe I was worthy enough to feel his greatest love
Something happened there in paradise, when we were hanging around that tree
I breathed in too much knowledge, and I’d forgotten how to see…

Chorus
*Chorus is traditional
Won’t you stay here in the garden, next time, Eve?
Won’t you give this poor old sinner time to grieve?
And pray to our dear Lord, before you leave?
Won’t you stay here in the garden, next time, Eve?

With the evil snake around my neck and poison in my blood
I couldn’t believe I was worthy enough to feel his greatest love
With the devil running down our streets, and my demons in the night
How could I ever imagine that his love would make it all right?

Chorus
He said my child I love you, no matter what you ever did or said
For you I gave my flesh and blood and for you my tears were shed
So sit right here beside me, and tell me all your grief
I’ll be here waiting for you, if you ever decide to leave…

Chorus
Won’t you stay here… Won’t you pray here…
Won’t you give…this sinner…some time…
And when you come back Eve,
I’ll be waiting to grieve…
Stay here, in this garden, next time Eve.
