"Sinners Rejoice!"

Caught Melvern Taylor and Jen Kearney at Toad last Thursday...fun, fun, fun! Seemed like half the audience knew every word to every Melvern song and the intensity level cranked up a few notches once Jen Kearney and the boys dove into Pick Yourself Up. Several recognizable faces from Lowell were dispersed throughout the crowd of locals: Mike Dion (Hot Day), Corey B (Speakermute), and the Reverend JJ (Reverend JJ and the Casual Sinners). The Reverend, one of the original founding members of the much loved hillbilly jug band Thunderpants Johnson, has just released his first full length CD with his band the Casual Sinners. Saturday night, February 21st, the sometimes irreverent Reverend will be hosting a CD release party at Mickey's to celebrate. Highlights from the selftitled CD include the opening track Hard to See You Go and the lilting Walk Slowly. Backed by a stellar band, the Reverend's hard driving harmonica playing and fevered vocals keep things rocking from start to finish. Local favorites Uncle Jam and the War Babies open. Music starts at 9. Should be a fun show!

Bio

Energy. That's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear "The Reverend". The Reverend JJ's kinetic energy has been a staple of the Boston area music scene for the past 10 years.

With just his guitar, several harmonicas and a keen eye for details many of us miss, The Reverend always delivers an eclectic mix of insightful originals and welcome cover selections.

Nearly every evening (even in the afternoon) you can find The Reverend out spinning his tales at area venues such as The Middle East, Plough & Stars, The Lizard Lounge, The Old Worthen, Sangria's and once upon a time, the dearly departed Evos Arts.

He has performed live, numerous times on 91.5 WUML and was the longtime host of the open mic at Evos Arts Institute & Tavern. He now hosts the Tuesday's Singer-Songwriter night at Mickey's Bar & Grill in Lowell, MA.

The Reverend is a founding member of the beloved band "Thunderpants Johnson's Hillbilly Orchestra", playing hundreds of shows throughout the Northeast. Not content with just a single outlet for his music, The Reverend has now put together a stellar back up band to highlight his varied original tunes.

Described as a must see acoustic rock act infused with a rare hard-driving harmonica talent, the addition of electric instruments and solid, backing drums brings Reverend JJ and The Casual Sinners into a new genre they can call their own.
