Bio

Rex Mundi's current line-up was formed around 6 months ago.

The band has been jamming together on and off for the last couple of years with a core of James, Scott & Allen with others coming and going.

The band started with James and david (original drummer) going down for a jam. They used to be in a band together called grip.
Once they decided to get a bit more serious they gave Scott a phone who in turn gave his old side kick Allen a phone. Scott and Al were also in grip but once it fell away spent years together in Vagrant while Dave and James fell away from the live scene due to work commitments.

After spending years playing anywhere and everywhere Vagrant, including great Glasgow venues the barrowlands (with bands like the proclaimers) and king tuts wah wah hut they split up. Scott found himself playing in local legend Hugh Reed's band the velvet underpants While Al pursued his love of heavy metal and was a founding member of Glasgow cult band syth as well as playing in top tribute band maiden scotland.

While playing in Hugh's band, due to personal circumstances and being disillusioned at the then live scene in Scotland Scott fell away from not just playing live but playing guitar altogether.

When James and Dave phoned Scott he was a bit reluctant to come down at first but, the fact he was starting to miss being in a band and had a load of unused songs he wanted to play got him back into it.

Allan, who kept playing away non-stop and by now had built up a reputation as a bit of a bass for hire (he was in five bands at one point) Was up for going down with his old mates for jam.

Once the guys (who were all childhood friends) were all in the studio again everything came together very fast. To complete the line up Gerry who was the singer in vagrant was placed on vocals.

The band had a few early versions of song in place before the first change, Gerry had to move to New York for work.
The guys kept playing away but with no new singer in sight found they started to fall away a bit.

Once things kicked off again the guys decided to get more serious, the first thing that came up was to replace David with Malky who was down playing the drums. It was felt he could give more to the band due his experience and the fact he was able to get in plenty of practice away from the studio.

The band had by now, all the songs finished that would end up on there 1st album but still no sign of a singer.

Scott remembered hearing a guy (Lp) that he used to work with sing and thought he'd ask him down.
As Lp had no previous experience signing for a band before the guys were not to sure.
Once he came down the guys were happy to give him a run in the studio to find his feet and after a while he was brought in as a full time member.

Now complete the guys were ready to play gigs and had rested on the name dollar dance they had also booked in to the studio to record there 1st album.

Then the band were all shocked as Malky called it quits the guys were gutted as Malky added a lot to the band and was a top class drummer.
Lucky enough it didn't take long to replace him as John came in and had time to settle along with Lp before the recording started.

Then the next and hopefully last change to the line up happened after they finished there album (which they had done in 3 days!) when John left!!!

So the guys had to plug away again and where bursting to play live so started doing acoustic gigs.

During this time there was a push for a name change with Lp putting forward the name Rex Mundi that was amongst a bunch of names suggested by Scott's bro Allan who, was part of a mini campaign to get rid of the dollar dance name.

The line up was complete again when Lp brought his mate Allan down to play drums. Al was looking for new band and liked the album. He fitted in well and has since became an important member of the band.

Rex Mundi are now looking forward to the release of there 1st album and have been writing away for the follow up
