Rex Mundi the Great

Rex Mundi The Great was born Christopher M Keplinger in Johnson City Tn in the year of 1985.
To Mellissia Ann Hammnett and Kenneth Ronald Keplinger.
From the very beginning it was a strugle for Rex Mundi. Born almost 3 months premature, he spent the first 5 years of his life deaf and unable to talk well. It was at age 5 when one event
changed his life forever. After many failed operations on his ears, one final operation was performed in the fall of 1990. In the aftermath of that operation many test were perfomed on Rex's ears. The test consited of a combiation of sounds ranging from ambient noises to bells and whistles in simple pattern forms. It was during these test that Rex heard sound and music clearly
for the first time. This sparked an intrest that would later turn into a life time obsession with sound.
By age eight Rex was recording his parents and thier friends conversations with his boom box. This didn't work out so well for the young boy since his parents were drug dealers and what he
usually recorded was drug transactions with their friends. 1992 was also the year Rex's father was
murderd. Even though his father walked out on him when he was a infant and he had been raised by his stepfather so far. The news of his biological fathers death deeply hurt and effected the young boy. It was at this point that he began to withdraw himself and began to create the alter ego Rex Mundi that eventually become his stage persona.
By age 14 Rex's mother had divorced his stepfather and had taken up a dangerous drug habit. Her addiction turned Rex's home life upside down as the once safe, quiet home had become a crack
house. To escape this enviorment Rex raely came home and it wasn't long before he began to get himself in trouble on the streets.
By age 17 Rex had been in and out of the Juvenile Detention System and had spent a total of 2 years locked up. It was in the lock up centers that Rex began to freestlye rap. He quickly gained
the attention of his peers with his raps which were cleverly worded and almosrt morbid. It wasn't long before he began battle rapping and winning. The attention and praise he recieved turned the withdrawn boy into a outgoing, up and coming emcee.
At age 22 Rex began recording material in his home studio. Over the next three years he would record over a hundred songs with friends, fellow artist and by himself. These pieces of material
would come to form his first three records, Captain Calipto, I'm Ill and Sessions. All of which were released simultanously on Badbabyent's Label.
Rex Mundi inked a deal with Badbabyent in 2011 guranteeing the release of his first three records simultaneously and for free. He hopes other artist will follow in his path and will stop trying to
charge for music that people can and will get for free anyway.
