"Rhapcity EP Review"

From the first track to the last of Rhapcity’s self-titled EP, the songs have captivated me. MC Dialekt brings his rap game from Guam and blends perfectly together with the band. His rapping style is reminiscent of Eminem.

Slick rhymes from MC Dialekt perfectly complement Nat’s vocals brings the music together. Nat’s vocals are rich on the track ‘Better Days’ and ‘Blue Collar Masters’. The lyrics are meaningful and perfectly mashed together on both tracks.

The guitar, bass, and keyboard add a totally fresh sound bridging the gap between urban hip-hop and rock ballads. The song ‘Bad Side’ kind of pulls the band down slightly with the cheesy sounding keys but MC Dialekt’s rhymes hold the song together.

The band, newly formed in October ’08 has a very tight and professional sound. This can be credited to the members who are accomplished musicians in their own right. MC Dialekt.

The release of the first EP can only mean better things for this new band. Still a little raw around the edges, this is one underground act to watch out for. - Perthbands.com

"Rhapcity NBT 09 Heat Review"

Originality of Music - it is a very saturated genre at the moment but does have some qualities to rise above most of it. Lots of good rhyming, the vibe and female vocalist was great. Contemporary urban tunes, Hip Hop, soul, Rhythm, almost rocky.

Songwriting - songs were well crafted and arranged. Some well written songs using every instrument and not only MC for the better of the songs. Positive good rhyming, Accent?? uplifting beats and rhymes to get a crowd going.

Musicianship - Live band rocks all works together well, MC's and vocalist are excellent. Great musicianship, quality players who don't over play and work well as a unit.

Market Viability - certainly a market for this style, urban, a mix of commercial and mainstream. Lots of diversity in the set, rock as well as hip hop, lots of marketing angles for sure. As mentioned before, a very saturated genre, MC had an ego but thats a good thing, can rise above with what you have but you need to keep on doing what you are doing and hope that fate smiles at you.

Stage Presentation - All put on a great show, made sure the crowd were into it and thats where the ego is a good thing you worked it well. Rhapcity own the stage when they are on it. Great confidence on stage from all members.

Audience Response - great response from audience members. Rocked the crowd.

OVERALL COMMENTS - Really enjoyed the set THANKS.

"Rhapcity NBT Heat Review"

Rhapcity have apparently spent some time in the studio with some sort of professional and you could tell from their set. They had synths and drums, guitar, bass, and two rappers and a female vocalist. The stage was only just big enough to contain them all! They burst onto stage and from the minute they started, it was clear their set would be good. They really got the crowd going, and I think they already have a bit of a following. Great beats and rhythm and the girl had a really great voice too. By the end of their 20 minute set there was no empty space in front of the stage!

"Rhapcity NBT 09 Semi Final Review"

The only hip hop group remaining in the competition made a grand entry to the stage by means of an instrumental build up loaded with bass. The female singer and male rapper made special entry from the crowd for their opening number. Calling out “who’s here to see Rhapcity?” the crowd screamed the affirmative.

The whole band was exerting effort and energy as the vocalists worked the crowd and their guitarist showed more of a rock influence as he nailed escalating guitar licks. The 6 piece kept the crowd bouncing on bent knees and their last number Real Hip-Hop with the chant of “hip-hop hip-hop” had the loyal crowd getting involved.

The final verdict was like comparing apples and oranges. Could the crowd favorites win out over the musically gifted or experienced performers? This reviewer thought the following bands were worthy of a final place: Rhapcity, Rachel and Henry Climb A Hill and Mister & Sunbird. - FasterLouder.com

Bio

Rhapcity…a fresh new sound for Australian Hip-Hop! Rhapcity is a conglomeration of styles & ideas brought about by the musical diversity of its members.

Rhapcity defines itself as Hip-Hop…but not just Hip-Hop…& focuses on closing the gap between mainstream commercial music & conventional Hip-Hop. With a mixture of sounds, genres & live instruments, Rhapcity creates its own definable sound that has not yet been heard in Australian Music. Rhapcity strives to be the new face of Australian Hip-Hop & bring together lovers of both Hip-Hop & other forms of music.

Dialekt [MC] found his talent while free-styling on the streets of Guam, where he had a No. #1 hit on the local charts for six-weeks with “Summertime”. He has also supported Xzibit for his sold out performance in Guam.

After returning to Australia, Dialekt identified that the Australian Hip-Hop scene was one that required a different approach to those usually taken by traditional Hip-Hop artists. The band was formed during October 2008 & began rehearsing with a view to produce & record their debut EP by the end of January 2009.

Rhapcity’s sound can be credited to the diversity & musical ability of its band members. Luke [bass] & Lee [drums] are both self-taught artists who have performed in numerous original funk, groove & rock bands since their high-school days & are both comfortable improvising on-stage. Delby [keys] & Matt [guitar] are both classically-trained musicians who have played extensively with concert bands. Nat [vocals] has spearheaded numerous cover & original bands & is a professionally trained dancer.

Having recently completed their EP, Rhapcity has the opportunity to continue to develop their incredible live show & discover the true potential of their music!
