"Craig Ferguson's 'Late Late Show' Books Scottish Band for One-Week Residency"

Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show booked a weeklong residency for the first time in years.

Glasgow rock band Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire will perform for the entire week starting Feb. 24 on CBS' 12:35 a.m. talker, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire was a musical guest on the Feb. 17 episode, where they performed the song "Bright Light Fever." Ferguson, a Scotland native, discovered the band himself.

Residencies for the Late Late Show are relatively few and far between, and this one evolved naturally. Following the show, Late Late Show producers met with Ferguson for a discussion on the night's taping. Ferguson expressed enthusiasm about the band and tasked producers to see if Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire could be featured for an entire week.

Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire will perform five different songs from Feb. 24 to 28.

In the past several months, the Late Late Show has welcomed 19-year-old singer-songwriter Jake Bugg; ZZ Ward; The Lone Bellow; and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Previous residencies on the show have included Richie Sambora, Bone Patrol and The Imagineers. - Hollywood Reporter

Bio

A band defiantly in the classic mould, Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire have been lauded for their compelling and darkly anthemic sound. Led by Hart’s distinctive voice and songwriting, the band create a vivid sonic landscape that has seen them perform across the UK and make their American network debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. This led to an invitation to take up a rare week-long residency, playing tracks from the new album to a combined audience of over 12 million people. They followed this with a nomination on the fiercely contested long list for the Scottish Album of the Year award for their eponymous album, which was described by Uncut as “Widescreen…poetic and [with] verve”. Helmed by acclaimed producer Danton Supple (Morrissey, Patti Smith) – and recorded everywhere from a Glasgow church, the band’s own rehearsal room in Govan Town Hall (once home to Franz Ferdinand), to the legendary Dean Street Studios in London (the birthplace of albums by David Bowie and The Smiths) – the album was critically hailed as dark, brooding and atmospheric, but shot through with moments of beauty and hope. They continued to make new fans following its release, with performances at the opening party for the Commonwealth Games in Scotland and their celebrated show at Paisley Abbey with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

After their return from South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, 2015 saw the band hunkered down in their studio in Glasgow working on a new album with legendary Scottish producer Paul Savage (Admiral Fallow, Mogwai, Emma Pollock), due for release in Spring 2016.
