"Emotionally charged newcomer..."

Rhodes is a name steeped in history.

A Greek island, it features prominently in mythology, in classical literature - little wonder then, then an aspiring songwriter from England decided to use this title.

Working with Noah & The Whale frontman Charlie Fink, the pair gradually brought Rhoses' debut EP into view. 'Raise Your Love' is set to be released on October 28th, with each of the four tracks bristling with emotion.

Lead track 'Run' is available to stream online, with its gentle acoustic picking entrancing from the off. With his warm voice and open style, Rhodes seems perfect for those late-Summer / early-Autumn days of reflection and contemplation.

The video for the track is shot on a beach, and juxtaposes and old man peering at the scene with a pair of lovers running towards one another.

"RHODES"

It was only in January that 24-year-old Rhodes started writing songs with any serious intent. Since then, things have moved fast - the Communion and Hometown labels have both showed their support, with the latter releasing his 'Raise Your Love' EP on October 28. The Agonised lilt of his locals brings to mind Anthony Hegarty and Jeff Buckley, and expectations for future live shows are high following his string-laden performance at Festival no 6. - NME

Bio

6 months ago, 24 year old Rhodes, from Hitchin, picked up his guitar and began to sing first the time. As if by magic he unearthed his own startling and original voice.

The sublime demo track, 'Always' was playlisted on Amazing Radio for a month at the beginning of the summer and also picked up a handful of plays from Radio 1 and news of Rhodes’ music began to spread. As a result, Rhodes has had a busy summer of live shows supporting the likes of Laura Marling, Rufus Wainwright and Nick Mulvey across the UK.

With his career in ascendancy, now comes the debut EP ‘Raise Your Love’. Recorded with James Kenosha and Charlie Fink (Noah and the Whale), the 4 tracks showcase Rhodes' trademark haunting vocals draped around a plaintive electric guitar backdrop.

Rhodes plays Festival No. 6 this weekend (3.30pm at The Town Hall on Sunday 15th Sept) accompanied by a string quartet and following this he'll support Amber at The Bodega Social Club in Nottingham on 11th October, with more live dates to be announced soon.
