"Their sound is very reminiscent of The Roots and Foreign Exchange covering the live hip-hop, funk, jazz, and even reggae, and bossa nova/samba genres on this album." - Jerilene (Fatlace)

"*"

"While Rhythm Natives comes together to produce an organic mix of many genres, they are certainly hip-hop oriented, and the rapping duo of Exaktoh (Glen Techico) and Kreative Thought (Jon Narboneta) evoke the light-hearted and clever exchange of People Under the Stairs or the short-lived Colorado Springs group The Procussions…This album definitely belongs in anyone’s collection of organic-sounding hip-hop and is sure to work generously in promoting their live performances." - Ion the Prize (UC Berkley Students For Hip-Hop)

"The Rhythm Natives are not only a good hip hop band, but a TRUE hip hop band. I haven't heard or felt such a rich family vibe from a group since The Leader of the New School. They truly show how much love and fun they're having in every show. i've had the honor of attending and/or been a part of." - Jacewon

"When the Rhythm Natives are in the house, ain't no question that it's live!" - Miles Tackett (Breakestra, The Rootdown)

"Few groups today passes the on-stage chemistry and confidence of the Rhythm Natives. Definitely a band to look out for in 2010." - Joey Reina (Simple Citizens)

"...you have to see them live." - Regina Quaynor (Examiner)

The Rhythm Natives debut album is a musically-sound and nostalgic throwback to hip hop bands of years past. It blends jazz, reggae, rap, and melody seamlessly between tracks and keeps the pace uptempo throughout. My favorite tracks are "Move", "Make Up Your Mind", and "Like This" - an indication of the range and corresponding instrumentation that makes this effort a solid and cohesive one. - Rocky Rivera

Bio

Their sound is found between the cracks of genre divisions. The organic mix of hip hop, jazz, R&B, and soul has earned them the respect of various Los Angeles events like Bridges, Soul Sessions, Sonido Sundays, and The Rootdown. Their lyrics are in tune with everyday experiences and social trends – all resonating with their listeners, who are often found immersed in a Rhythm Natives melody and rhyme.
In 2007, they recorded their live show at the Temple Bar. Since then, copies have been floating around Southern California and beyond. The musical energy heard on each track is so significant, that it has left their fans wanting more. Lucky for them, the guys are currently in the studio with producer Asi Friedman, working on a new album. With an October 19, 2010 release date, the Rhythm Natives are slated to be on the rise and bring a breath of fresh air to the art they love so much.
