Ribbons front man Matthew Kiefer, while searching for musicians to accompany him in studio and as a touring band posted a flyer on a college campus that simply said:
"American Football has love child with Wilco, baby born looks like mixture of Sonic Youth and Explosions in the Sky."
From the initial rehearsal with the musicians Kiefer met, Ribbons quickly assembled a live set, hit the studio to record their debut EP with J.Robbins (Jawbox/Burning Airlines/DeSoto Records) and set out across the highways of America playing in almost every major city in the country.
With countless DIY tours under their belt, recording albums with Indie Alums J. Robbins and Dan Coutant, Ribbons was eventually solidified with with ex-members of Epic Rec. Recording artists The Juliana Theory and Mexico's own Thermo.
With 3 EP's in their catalogue and the desire and will to stay on the road 8 months+ out of the year, Ribbons keeps pushing for evolution within themselves and their sound.
