Bio

Fans characterize Ric's musical style as a cross between Grover Washington Jr. and a smooth jazz version of Rahsaan Roland Kirk. He was born in a suburb of the San Francisco Bay Area but raised to the jazz, gospel, R&B, and house music of the inner city. Ric Alexander is an experienced saxophonist, songwriter, and producer known for playing two saxophones simultaneously in the Bay Area music scene. His reputation for playing two saxes at once is being noticed by promoters, magazine/newspaper writers, audiences at local venues, smooth jazz events and radio stations in the Bay Area. Two prominent local radio program directors are constantly inquiring about the release date of his next CD. He is currently recording a CD of original/cover material which will feature a few well known smooth jazz artists like; guitarist Levi Seacer (Prince), keyboardist Terry Disley (Acoustic Alchemy), drummer Billy Johnson (Joyce Cooling), percussionist Marquino Brasil (Craig Chaquico), and bassist Nelson Braxton (Braxton Brothers) to help establish him as an excellent artist for the growing smooth jazz market.

"Ric is a phenominal sax player who more than deserves more attention from the industry and I hope the world gets to know what we already know here in the Bay Area!" --Miranda Wilson, KKSF

"Congratulations, let's hear it for Ric Alexander, the grand prize winner of the inaugural Dave Koz Cruise Star Search Competition and our very first Smooth Jazz Idol." --Dave Koz

Levi Seacer - Guitar
When the Revolution was disbanded, Prince asked Shelia E. and Levi to join his new band, The New Power Generation. During Levi's seven year stay, Prince noticed many other talents in Seacer and quickly utilized them. Levi's first post as Band Leader and Musical Director led him to become Staff Producer for Paisley Park Records and finally President of NPG Records. During his term as President, Seacer and the NPG staff marketed, manufactured, and distributed "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" which has become one of Prince's biggest selling records to date. Also, 1-800-New-Funk, an album featuring various NPG artists had great international success. Independently, Levi has also worked as a producer, songwriter, session musician and music supervisor for such great artists as, The Sounds of Blackness, The Time, Shelia E., Johnny Lang, Tevin Campbell, George Clinton, Barry White, Carmen Electra, The Pointer Sisters, Gerald Alston, Monie, Mavis Staples, Nona Gaye, Elisa Fiorillo, Ingrid Chavez, Martika and many others. In addition to producing tracks for The Ric Alexander Band, he has produced the artist Christopher Lawrence who is a very talented songwriter and musician out of Minnesota. You can check him out on myspace.com/christopherlawrenceband. Levi has received two grammy nominations for his contributions to Prince and the three time grammy award winning Sounds of Blackness. Levi was also voted as one of the 1000 greatest guitarists in the world.

Wilson Brooks - Drums

Wilson has performed with the Bill Bell Trio, The Duke Ellington Tribute Orchestra, and The Gospel Hummingbirds. He also has an instructional gospel drumming CD to his credit. He currently teaches private lessons and presents gospel drumming clinics/lectures at various churches annually.

Darryl Anders - Bass
Being inspired by the soulful sounds of bassists like Willie Weeks, James Jamerson and Louis Johnson led to work with the crème of the crop in the San Francisco Bay Area music scene.
