Bio
Ricardo comes from a musical family. His father, a well known composer/player performed with Latin and Latin Jazz bands, including the legendary Machito. His brother was lead singer and principal composer for Conjunto Melao; he led his own Salsa bands and wrote for Salsa stars Willie Colon, Adalberto Santiago and others. Ricardo holds a Music Degree and Masters in Bilingual Education from the City College of New York, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
At City the studied with noted composer/pianist John Lewis of the Modern Jazz Quartet. He has also studied with master composer/pianist Ran Blake and the Jazz guitar legend, Sal Salvador.
Ricardo's songs have won commendations from the Billboard Magazine competition and have been published in Sing Out! magazine. Look out for The Ricardo Gautreau Trio performing live in the New York/Westchester area.
