Ricardo has been singing all of his life and has entertained crowds and dancers in the area for over 10 years.Salsa music has been a part of Ricardo's life since he was a child having met many Salsa greats such as, Hector Lavoe, Celia Cruz, Ruben Blades, Oscar D' Leon, and Tito Rojas; courtesy of his parents introductions as a child.
Since its inception back in October of 2007 the band has had a very busy performing schedule. They have shared the stage with such big name acts as La Sonora Dinamita, La Banda Flakka and North Carolina's Salsa All Stars. This versatile group includes musicians from the United States, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Venezuela. Many of the band's members have been involved in the local and international Latin music scenes previously, in both recordings and performances with Roberto Roena y su Apollo Sound, Carnavalito, El Grupo Cardi, Orquesta GarDel, Ciclon Band, Sajaso, El Grupo Camaleon, Fusion Caribe, Sarengue, Songo, La Sexta Clave, Charanga Carolina and Conjunto 23. Adding to this diversity, some of Tropic Orchestra's players have had involvement in many other styles of music such as jazz, funk, fusion, rock, soul, reggae, ska, rhythm 'n' blues, heavy metal, folk and classical. The group consists of Lead singer Ricardo Diquez, Andres Leon Director/Piano, Rey Rieira/Jeff Nelson on Bass, Abdala Villegas on Timbales, Frank Vila on Bongos, Billy Marrero on Congas, Ricardo James and Jonah Vincent on Trumpet and Josh Vincent on Trombone.
