Bio

Richard J. Clark was born in Greenwich Village, New York City. While studying as a chemistry major at NYU, he decided to give it all up to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music.

As a graduate of both Berklee and The Boston Conservatory, Richard travels through many musical worlds. His writing and performances in jazz, classical, and pop have brought him from the New York bar scene to Boston Symphony Hall, from Pop Radio to writing for the Oscar nominated American Boychoir.

These diverse experiences, allow Richard to experience radical differences in how people understand music—how differently they understand their own lives—or each other. These complex, and sometimes messy emotions drive his writing.
From loss, emotional captivity, and struggle emerge a message of a universal Light of Love and compassion.

Richard studied for a decade with legendary Boston Symphony organist, James David Christie, Richard’s writing now draws inspiration one of the most powerful pipe organs in the country, from the creamy Hammond B3, and from the Steinway. His influences reach from J.S. Bach to Thelonious Monk. This is the eclectic and inspirational world where Richard lives.

As an artist, Richard also released the European pop single, “Grana” which he co-produced with Italian songwriter/musician Marco Facchin.

He has conducted for EMI recording artist, Irish Tenor John McDermott in a Million Dollar fundraising campaign for charity.

He has been a guest artist, performer and lecturer for the Berklee College of Music. He has been commissioned and published numerous vocal and orchestral works. He has conducted and performed numerous live concerts on classical radio in addition to solo performances in Europe.

He currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts.
