Bio

Richard Monkman was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He currently resides in Edmonton, Alberta and it is here that he has been fortunate enough to have performed with and learned from some of Edmontons' finest musicians which has enabled him to grow and develope much of his musical abilities. Through his studies and related experiances he has assumed the roles of:
Guitarist
Producer
Songwriter
Bandleader
Teacher
Session musician
Throughout his career he has fronted or performed with various musical groups from jazz quartets to folk duos. He is also currently working on his first practice/study Book which he hopes to have completed by early 2009. Along with his own projects Richard Monkman also plays in a cover/original rock band called July Which has opened for Harlequin, Trooper, Alannah Myles and Lee Aaron to name a few.
"Beyond his eclectic composing style, Monkman's clean, intelligent guitar
lines are very appealing whether he's heading into improvised territory or
going for tuneful hooks".
