"Billy Block Showcase @ The Rutledge"

Richie Scholl Live From The Rutledge - Billy Block

"THE BLACKTOP JUNKIES GUIDE TO RICHIE SCHOLL"

Rockhampton born RICHIE SCHOLL doesn’t do anything by halves. His website proclaims that he has a “Natural ability to write songs, play guitar, harmonica and sing at loud levels for extended periods of time to country crowds”. His new album The Blacktop Junkies Guide To, produced by the master of alternative country MICHAEL FLANDERS, is a rocking twelve track Ferrari-paced journey without a Driver Reviver rest-stop. Blacktop Junkie, Madison County and Keepin It Country are high octane. Kick The Habit, I know Too Well, Give It Another Shot are similar gas guzzlers. I Blame You slows the pace slightly and Pour A Glass takes a mellow breather. Richie’s guitar work is super slick and his harmonica doesn’t suck either. He closes the album with the acoustic shuffle Long Way To Go. Richie Scholl may have miles to travel, but he better get used to the company of a legion of fans.

Bio

Born and raised in the cattle, coal, and rail town of Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, it was clear that Richie Scholl was going to be exposed to country music. After listening to great country music wordsmiths such as Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, along with the smooth multi-layered harmonies of the Eagles and guitar legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Richie knew exactly what he wanted to do. After first picking up a guitar at age 13, it was barely a year before he was playing at licensed bars and clubs at least a couple of nights a week. Scholl has hardly put down the guitar since, which has allowed him to learn anything and everything from country, blues, and pop to rock.

He later released his debut album “The Blacktop Junkie Guide To Richie Scholl” where his first single, “Blacktop Junkie” reached # 5 on the KixFM chart and the video reached #35 on the CMT chart. His second single, “Madison County” reached #1 on the KixFM chart. Scholl also received a CMAA Album Of The Year nomination for that album.

Fast forward to today and Richie is no stranger to the road. His amazing band is hand-picked to complete the perfect sound. Each of them has played for 20+ yrs for a multitude of hot headliners like Big & Rich, Gavin DeGraw, Sheryl Crow, Gary Allan, Josh Turner, Jewel and Jake Owen. Together, they have been headlining shows at various clubs, bars, fairs/festivals, casinos and theaters 5 to 6 nights a week, as well as on tour with acts like Chuck Wicks, Trailer Choir and Jason Michael Carroll.
