Bio

Born in Europe, lived outside of Boston, then lived outside of Chicago, and finally here to Hawaii where I've grown up. I have family all over: California, Colorado, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, even a brother currently in Asia.

Historically my family has roots within the state of Oklahoma as well. My great-grandfather caught wolves with his bare hands and was subsequently nicknamed "Catch 'Em Alive" Jack Abernathy. He was a U.S. Marshal for the territory of Oklahoma. Two of his sons, my grandfather (Bud Abernathy) and his brother, my great uncle (Temple Abernathy) have a life-sized statue in Tillman County, Oklahoma, which you may view online here:

He was the only grandparent of mine whom I met, though I only recall meeting my late grandfather twice (our family still refers to him as "Papa" so it's personally odd typing "grandfather" in reference to him). At one of those meetings he gave me a signed book entitled "The Remarkable Ride of the Abernathy Boys". It remains one of my most prized personal possessions to this day.

I've worked for several different radio stations as a DJ over the years (KPOI 98-Rock, KTUH, KAIM, & KLHT). I've worked for a local concert promoter (the late Ken Rosene, SRO Entertainment) and an international concert promoter (Marek Lieberberg Hawaii). I've worked at retail (Tower Records), and I currently part-time at a venue with 4 different facilities. If there were a music industry degree offered somewhere in Hawaii, I should think I've earned my doctorate by now :P

Even still, there are many others here in Hawaii that are much more talented than I am. I do love the lyrics I'm able to write and I feel blessed that I can put some sort of melody behind them.

These songs are just myself and a guitar, save for "Dust" which KoLRecording of MySpace helped produce as well. It's all really rough though at this stage. The idea is for me to stop being selfish and start sharing this stuff with everyone else.

Hope you enjoy the songs & thanks for taking the time to listen :)
