"Kyra Kyles"

"Local MC: Rich Malone with "Skyline" Kyra Kyles:

The track to follow, "Skyline" from Rich Malone and DJ Jaem appeals to me because of the hook, melody and playful rhymes. It isn't rated PG-13, so prepare for a couple of ear bombs, but it's well worth the listen. " - Kyles Files/Chicago Now

"Nightspots Apr/2009"

....the thoughtful “Sunshine” disarmed and re-educated me to the soulful side of hip-hop that too few people make. Common and Lupe Fiasco better watch out, because Prome & Rich Malone may well steal their thunder. - DJ Res-5

Bio

Using the frigidly-cold Midwestern backdrop as inspiration, Chicago-based MC Rich Malone has high hopes for his musical future. For over a decade, this talented MC has been hard at work developing his sound, using soulful, gritty beats to create witty, insightful, humorous, and cautionary tales about hardships, friendships, politics, and subjects that effect people everywhere.

Born in Chicago, IL in 1981, and raised on Chicago's notorious West Side, a young Malone was influenced by the sounds of George Clinton, Rick James, Prince, & Run DMC during the New-School era of Hip-Hop. Between living with his grandmother and on his own, he soon developed into a self-supportive teen. During a school party, and after some encouragement from friends, Rich started to kick some freestyle raps using quick wit & reference, as well as impressive clarity and timing.

Malone continued to explore his musical talents, linking up with producer Rediculus and his Knowledge Giving Birth prod. He was invited to join his group 'Masters of Conversation' in 2002, and recorded & performed alongside fellow M.O.C. artists during a 4-yr. period, releasing the 'First Wordz Spoken' ep. As of 2008, Malone and Ridiculus have continued to create music, and have collaborated on the 'ReVerb' album, mixed/hosted by the legendary D.J. Ready Cee.

In mid 2005, Malone met producer & DJ, D.J. Jaem. The two then joined forces, combining a love for funk, soul, rock, and Hip-Hop. This chemistry can be evidenced on the 2009 release 'A Week in the Life' ep. that places the listener square in the day-to-day struggles of Rich and Jaem . This duo has been hard at work, building on their signature sound of hard-hitting production, unique turntablism and witty & honest rhymes. Singles such as 'Playing With Life' and '60624' have been performed at Chicago & and clubs, and played on several streaming web radio stations, such as D.J. Kingston's The Main Ingredient Show in the U.K. & D.J. Ready Cee's StreetVision radio show in New York.

Rich Malone recently completed a four-day schedule of performing/interviewing in N.Y. in spring of 2010, performing at the Voodoo Lounge for the Brown Bag ALLStars 'Brown Bag Thursday' Showcase, D.J. Ready Cee's StreetVision online radio show, and A.D. The General's Elegant Hoodness competition, placing third among other local N.Y. acts. Rich hopes to continue building on this momentum to gain more opportunities to tour, make music, & work with new artists.

Rich Malone also enrolled in Columbia College Chicago as an Ad major, but also focused on a budding interest in acting. Malone appeared in several student films, winning a best actor award in the llini Film Fest, and has been a featured extra in films such as The Dark Knight. Rich also has studied acting at Act One Studios, Piven Theatre, & Red Twist Theatre with the legendary Mary Beth-Liss. In early 2009, Malone enrolled in Improv Olympic Chicago(i.O.)'s year-long improv intensive, adding yet another skill-set to his arsenal. Malone also went on to receive a B.A. in Advertising from Columbia in 2006.

Rich is currently represented by Stewart Talent Chicago as a V.O. artist, as well as an on-camera at Ambassador in Chicago & Lori Linds in Milwaukee.
