"More Press"

"Jeremy Serwer's songs run the gamut from emotionally charged heartbreakers to pointed political statements, always with thoughtful attention to melody and classic craftmanship. As solid a songwriter and performer as you will find anywhere."
John Vechiarelli, White Eagle Showcase and National performer songwriter.

Jeremy Serwer & The Rich Man’s Burden

Belting out gutsy original music is exactly what musicians are supposed to do. It is in his ability to generate emotion in an audience that Portland’s Jeremy Serwer begins his deviation from the norm. Serwer’s songs build on a dynamic range of emotions and energy. Explosive and intense to light hearted and fun, his music presents an array of atmospheres that are difficult to pigeonhole. When asked, Serwer confesses it is tricky classifying his music but that he considers AAA as a reasonable genre to place it in or possibly Political Adult Contemporary. However, over time a variety of other colorful descriptions have emerged from the press like Defiant Nocturnal Songs and Traditional Macabre, making light of an obvious dark thread that is apparent in either the structure or lyrics of Serwer’s music. Seeing his performances brings a very real comparison with artists such as Dave Matthews, Matthew Sweet, and Jack Johnson. His “axe” of preference, the acoustic guitar, backs with authority a powerful, bluesy, growling expressive voice. As likely to be seen solo as with his band Rich Man’s Burden, Serwer’s delivery becomes the dynamic centerpiece of an astounding presentation.

In addition to his obvious talent, Serwer seems equipped either with a sixth sense for getting things done, or just an undue amount of intestinal fortitude. He spends a great deal of time setting up shows, performing and touring and seems always at the threshold of a new personal frontier. In the midst of setting up songwriter’s showcases or lining out 80 day touring schedules, Serwer completes his divergence from the mainstream using his natural gift for networking to assist other musicians with their schedules.

Jeremy Serwer can be heard live on KPSU in Portland on September 11th to be followed by a show at Portland’s White Eagle for their songwriter’s showcase.

With Four CD’s under his belt Jeremy Serwer and Rich Man’s Burden has a fifth CD slated for completion this Fall. Tune in for details at http://www.myspace.com/jeremyserwer and

I have been hooked on Jeremy Serwer since I met him and heard him sing last early september at Acoustic Coffee (see link in my national Music community) in Portland Maine. I dig his stuff so much that when last october i moved to CT. and left "Redistributing the Wealth" behind, I had my mother expressly mail it to me priority.
