THE SKIES HAVE EYES
by Rich Millett

The Skies Have Eyes
Rich Millett

Grace permeates this CD by English-born and Georgia-based folk singer-songwriter Rich Millett. A seeker and searcher until, as his website puts it, ‘finding and receiving the love of Jesus Christ’ three years ago, Rich sounds not unlike Welsh troubadour Martyn Joseph. Indeed, his ‘Preaching To The Choir’, an exhortation to believers not to succumb to cosy churchianity, could comfortably join Martyn’s list of cover versions.

In ‘The Man Upstairs’, Rich sings of years of searching for meaning in life and how reading ‘the meditation and self-help books/were never worth the time it took’, while the title song ‘The Skies Have Eyes’ is a distant echo of Leslie (Sam) Phillips’ mid-1980s classic ‘God Is Watching You’. Rich’s gratefulness to God permeates all 13 songs on this CD, a refreshing blend of clichéand platitude-free praise, worship and social observation that’s full of love and compassion for humanity and hard to pigeonhole.

High: Dose Of The Ghost is a reminder of how God never writes anyone’s life off, even when we do.

Low: The sheep with its photoshopped human eyeon the CD cover is striking but a little creepy.

Review: The Net (iChurch online)
Album: The Skies Have Eyes

I’ve had the privilege of reviewing Christian music for many years, but Rich Millett’s The Skies Have Eyes caught my attention right off the bat. From there out it was smiles and tears, but every song was wondrous and uplifting. Rich Millett, of Atlanta, GA definitely makes a joyful noise that the Lord would be proud of!

This is a CD that will definitely connect with both the older and younger audiences…anyone looking for the light.

Album: The Skies Have Eyes

The Skies Have Eyes is a musical stew – hearty and satisfying. The lyrics are biblically solid and the music is easy to listen to.

Very professional in both sound quality and appearance.

Album: The Skies Have Eyes

Accessible. Catchy and melodic, yet soncially intricate and never trite or canned. Lyrically honest, yet never falling prey to naval gazing. Without a doubt, Rich Millett’s new release is the strongest of his prodigious music catalog. Two things immediately jump out – his voice and musicianship.

The Skies Have Eyes has an instant pop accessibility, yet with each listen the sonic layers emerge and continue to unfold for repeated and rewarding listens. Don’t let this release pass you by.

Bio

Rich Millett has been recording and performing his songs for years...and has received rave reviews along the way. The Skies Have Eyes and A Room Full Of Clouds chronicle his search and salvation since finding and receiving the love of Jesus Christ.

Rich’s musical influences are varied and include both Christian and secular artists. Rich and his band bring joy, humor, and passion to the songs and really connect with audiences…at churches and concerts in the southeastern U.S. He and the band play with a sense of purpose and mission as they add power and thrust to the songs. Rich has been writing songs since the age of 15. He was born in London and spent his youth in England, then Detroit, and now resides with his wife and children in Douglasville, GA – just outside Atlanta. He is very active in his church (First Presbyterian of Douglasville) and plays in and leads the contemporary worship service there.

Rich and his team send greetings your way and hope that you'll enjoy what you hear. There is no limit to what can be done when Jesus is driving. He counts himself among the truly blessed and wants to share the gift and joy of the word of God through his songs. The Lord works in ways both obvious and mysterious and in these uncertain times, clouded with hate and rampant sin, Jesus is not merely a light. He is THE light.

Rich feels the power given to us all from above and tries to take what musical gifts God has trusted him with and use them to His glory. He also thinks that life is a precious journey and should be traveled with a big smile, a spirit of adventure, a sense of humor, and as many songs as possible.

Praise The Lord!
