"I didn't even know there was such a thing as what people called Holy Hip Hop, but I knew that I was meant to do something important, something big."

His captivating and inspirational lyrics have developed a fast-growing fan base throughout holy hip-hop havens around the country.
Born and raised on the South side of Columbus, Ohio, Rick D. is one of many talented rappers such as Kanye West, Nelly, Bow-Wow, and Eminem with roots in the Midwest. Davis developed an interest in rap at an early age, rapping and writing lyrics at the age of 11. As a teenager he became known as a skilled lyricist and wrote raps for a friend who went on to become Bizzy-Bone of the acclaimed group, Bone, Thugs –N- Harmony. After graduating from high school, Davis continued to pursue rap and music production, eventually forming a partnership as the owner of a production company. He went on to produce local secular artists with moderate success.
In 1998, Davis rededicated his life as a born-again Christian, and soon shifted his focus to the holy hip-hop genre. “This was my calling all along. When I was in secular music I was just empty,” said Davis, “…Now I feel like I’m living a dream.”
As a holy hip-hop rapper and producer, Rick D. now enjoys success. He has recorded with holy hip-hop veterans Gospel Gangstaz, and has been requested to perform at various events around the country. With a commitment to change lives, D wants his music to have an infinite impact. “I just want to inspire people. I want my music to say that if you seek the Lord and love God, whatever he told you and showed you about your future and your purpose can and will come to pass," said D.
