If you like what is currently know as "Alt Country" or "Americana" that's what we do.. and (if I do say so myself!) we do it well...

Biography

I've been at this for awhile, since the 70's in fact (Yikes!)...
I've had several (bum) label deals (Vault, Fantasy, United Artists)... nothing much came of any of that so I moved to Texas in the 80's where I found the music scene refreshing and amazingly good... I played all over Texas and got to know and perform with some great singer/songwriters including Lucinda Williams, Townes Van Zandt and even Willy one year at the Kerrville Folk Festival...
I moved back to Los Angeles in the 90's and through producer Brian Ahern got to know and record with some great country/rock players including Albert Lee, "Sneaky Pete" Kleinow, & Greg Leisz among others... and with help from the the above I've been putting out independent CDs ever since and distributing them on cdbaby.com

'Texas Is One Song Away"

Written By: Rick Dinsmore

My songs they are the simple kind
As anyone can tell
There's a little bit of family
There's a small part of Texas as well
Whenever I feel lonesome
I just close my eyes and play
Then I'm not alone
I just sing me back home
It's just one song away

Chorus
Texas is one song away
I just close my eyes and play
Then I'm not alone
I just sing me back home
It's just one song away

The years have come and
The years have gone
Since I caught that Westbound plane
I strum me some chords
and I sing me some words
and I'm right back home again
I may never see all of my old friends again
Still they're clear as they can be
I may never come home to Texas again
But Texas can come home to me

repeat Chorus... Tag

STORIES

Written By: Rick Dinsmore

"STORIES"

HE SAID SON
ARE YOU GOIN’ MY WAY
I’M JUST HEADED
DOWN THE HIGHWAY
IT DON’T REALLY MATTER I SUPPOSE
IT LOOKED LIKE HE’D BEEN STANDING THERE
FOR QUITE A SPELL
YOU COULD TELL
HE’D BEEN SLEEPIN'
IN HIS CLOTHES

THERE WAS NOTHING
I COULD PLACE
THERE WAS SOMETHING
ABOUT HIS FACE
THAT SOMEHOW
STRUCK A CHORD
DOWN DEEP IN ME
AND THOUGH HE SMELLED LIKE GIN
I SAID COME ON CLIMB IN
I’M HEADED SOUTH
AND I COULD USE SOME COMPANY

CHORUS
SO WE DROVE ON DOWN THAT TEXAS HIGHWAY
AND HE TOLD ME ALL ABOUT HIS EARLY YEARS
HOW HE’D DECIEVE ‘EM, THEY’D BELIEVE HIM
HOW HE’D LOVE ‘EM THEN HE’D LEAVE ‘EM
HE TOLD ME STORIES
LIKE TO BURN THE DEVIL’S EARS

I’VE BEEN HERE BEFORE HE SAID
WAS BACK BEFORE THE WAR HE SAID
I EVEN HEARD I HAD A KID I NEVER KNOWED
IT HAD JUST BEGUN TO RAIN
WHEN HE SAID MY MOTHER’S NAME
I DON’T KNOW HOW I HELD IT ON THE ROAD

I THOUGHT BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD
AND A WOMAN WHO DID ALL SHE COULD
TO RAISE A RESTLESS BOY CHILD ALL ALONE
I THOUGHT OF HOW I PRAYED WAY BACK THEN
THE DAY WOULD COME WHEN I WOULD HAVE
A STORY TELLIN’ FATHER OF MY OWN

REPEAT CH..

THE BALLAD OF HANK AND RITA

Written By: R DINSMORE.E. PAYNE

HIS CHRISTIAN NAME WAS HENRY
BUT ALL THE FOLKS AROUND HERE CALLED HIM HANK
HIS LADY'S NAME WAS RITA
AND FOR TWENTY YEARS SHE WORKED DOWN AT THE BANK
THEY WERE RIGHTIOUS CHRISTIAN PEOPLE
SUNDAY'S FOUND THEM KNEELING GIVING THANKS

WHEN RITA WASN'T WORKING
SHE'D BE WITH THE GIRLS OF SCOUT TROOP NUMBER TEN
WHEN HENRY WASN'T ON HIS JOB
HE BE WITH THE BOYS DOWN AT THE DEW DROP INN
THEY NEVER MADE THE HEADLINES
BUT THEY WERE KNOWN AS EVERYBODY'S FRIEND

SUNDAY WE WERE GONNA' HELP THEM
CELEBRATE THEIR SILVER JUBILEE
THE GIRL SCOUTS PLANNED A
BAR B Q
THE DEW DROP PROMISED ALL THE BEER'D BE FREE
SO IMAGINE OUR SURPRISE WHEN SUNDAY FOUND THEM NOWHERE TO BE SEEN

THE POSTCARD CAME FROM MEXICO
IT SIMPLY SAID WE OWE IT ALL TO YOU
THE BANKER CRIED "THE MONEY'S GONE, SO ARE HANK AND RITA TOO"
HE SAID IT SIMPLY GOES TO SHOW
YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW PEOPLE LIKE YOU THINK YOU DO

HE SAID YOU JUST DON'T KNOW
LIKE YOU THINK YOU DO
YOU JUST DON'T KNOW
AND THAT'S THE TRUTH
YOU JUST DON'T KNOW
YOU NEVER CAN TELL
HE SAID YOU JUST DON'T KNOW
MAYBE JUST AS WELL
YOU JUST DON'T KNOW
LIKE YOU THINK YOU DO
YOU DON'T KNOW PEOPLE
AND THEY DON'T KNOW YOU
