Rick Hodgson

After working many years as a recording engineer on other people’s music projects Rick finally decided to record his debut album “Its About Time”. This is a collection of well crafted songs reflecting the experiences & observations that Rick has encountered throughout his career, based on his life growing up in Brighton, Ontario that will take you on a journey of haunting melodies accompanied by powerful & reflective lyrics. Rick’s songs come from the heart and will leave the audience wanting more…….
His sound can be best described as progressive Roots/Folk/Rock with influences from such artists as Mississippi John Hurt, Taj Mahal, Van Morrison, Gordon Lightfoot, John Prine, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Johnny Cash and Stan Rogers.
Born and raised in Brighton Ontario, Rick was interested in music at a very young age and started playing accordion then moved on to piano, but his first love was for the guitar and received one for his 6th birthday. Rick studied classical guitar for awhile in the mid 80's and developed a love for finger style blues.
Rick is self-taught and has played in numerous bands over the years with a love and appreciation for all styles of music.

Rick currently plays solo gigs (www.myspace.com/rickhodgsonband) and sings, plays bass/acoustic guitar and harmonica in the popular trio RUSTY ZIPPER. (www.myspace.com/rustyzipper1) He sings and plays lead/rhythm guitar in The STEPHANIE BIRD BAND, and teaches guitar at a local music school.

Rick owns and operates StarlinkSound (www.starlinksound.com) a modern full production recording studio based out of Brighton where he has been producing and recording music for over 20 years.

Rick can provide a captivating solo performance, or can deliver his show as a duo, trio or full band configuration.
