COLORS OF LIFE

COLORS OF LIFE (R Meece)

Blue was the coat Daddy wore
As I hugged and I kissed him walking out the door
I’d always wait under that cherry tree
Until he’d come home looking for me

White as a dogwood in May
Were the pearls and the sequins on my wedding day
He led me down along the aisle of love
Then let me go, his faith in God above

The colors of life surrounding me
A flowing river of memories
No use in how hard I try
Some days it seems there’s only black and white
I don’t know where rainbows end
But I’ll chase them when the storm blows in
I hold close to me the colors of life

Green were my sweet baby’s eyes
When I held him so close before he softly died
So short a little life, a blessing came
Of hope and faith I know I’ll see him rise again

REPEAT CHORUS

Red is an old faded rose
Where it lies in a quiet place I only know
All that’s left from one cold winter’s day
Where we all walked from where our Daddy lay

Purple, yellow, pink and blue
Like the quilt that grandma made when I met you
Through good and bad and all the rest
I thank God for everything that I remember best

The colors of life surrounding me
A flowing river of memories
No use in how hard I try
Some days it seems there’s only black and white
I don’t know where rainbows end
But I’ll chase them when the storm blows in
I hold close to me the colors of life
