Bio
Daytona and Key West veteran singer/songwriter Rick Steffen has treated audiences throughout the Eastern Florida Shoreline to his unique blend of island, blues, country, & pop sounds spanning a musical career of almost three decades. His tenure in the Tropical Music trenches is well documented by his artistic promotional coconuts left at each venue.
His music and songwriting is an artful reminder to us all to celebrate life and when we aren't doing that, to promote political and social change.
With the help of the giant talents of: Guitarist, Clarence Wares from Trinidad & Jamaica, having played on reggae albums with Toots & Maytals, Sly & Robbie, Sparrow, Dennis Brown and Windjammer from world famous Ocean Deck fame @ Daytona Beach:
Drummer, Steve (Mudlips) Mello, a former Julliard School of Music Student, also of Windjammer/Ocean Deck fame, (8 years) & the recorded hits “Smoke 2 Joints" (copied by national group Sublime), "Jump Right In" & calypso favorite "Going Down To The Beach". He is also playing the Snorkel, Melodica, & Keyboards:.
Bass & vocals Bing Oliver, formerly with Caribbean Posse of present Ocean Deck fame (6 yrs) and lead vocals. The Ocean Deck was voted several years running as being one of the top Hot Spots in the U.S. by Playboy magazine.
Mark Hodgson - Career Blues/Harmonica man/songwriter/singer/performer, with 6 Blues music CDs of his own, makes for a perfect compliment to this Caribbean Blues genre.
Mark, a Daytona blues icon, harmonica man, and performer, is definitely a music feature to the band’s new direction.
Steve played the top resorts in Key West with Rick & the Infinite Tolerance Band and they also did duo work there for 10 years. They were the featured act for Christmas and New Years 2004 at Margaritaville at Universal Studios Orlando.
Offshore4 is doing some cover tunes but in an island style. Like Soca/Bahamian versions of Margaritaville, Ska versions of Do You Wanna Dance, Jambalaya, Dock of the Bay, Brown Eyed Girl, Summertime Blues, the Joker, and You Really Got Me. Also a refreshing, danceable and entertaining selection of Originals .
These island music adaptations are familiar and are more popular with a large variety of people including the Island Music aficionados. They are playing in Aug. at the Daytona Rumfest and in Nov. in Key West.
