Discography

In his debut solo release “Sonic Postcards” Rick shows us what he has learned along the way. The result is a true tour of styles and themes, each faithfully interpreted and beautifully executed. Highlights include the opening track “Brothers 'til the End” a message of unconditional support for a brother in a tough situation. “Everything” “Wicked Woman” “No Pedigree” all explore the more traditional theme of relationships but each delivered in a completely different style and “Krungthep (City of Angels)” looks at the Bangkok protests of May 2010 from an expat's point of view. Careful not to take sides, the song is a love letter to his adopted city and is ultimately a message of hope and reconciliation for the Thai people.

Bio

“Growing up on 70's radio there was always great music playing in my home” says Rick “ one day you could hear George Benson and Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton and Marvin Gaye the next, by the time I was a teenager music just seemed like the natural thing to do”

Rick's musical journey started in the mid 80's at the height of the hair metal days. Upon graduating high school Rick traded in his spandex pants for a Telecaster and began playing in a 50's & 60”s Rock and Roll band for a living. Rick remembers “Playing that early stuff really opened my ears to what great guitar playing was really about”. For the next 7 years Rick honed his skills performing in clubs, events and festivals all over the greater Seattle area.

In 1995 Rick relocated to Los Angeles and soon landed a gig fronting the house band at a newly opened club in Tokyo, Japan. While in Tokyo Rick was fortunate enough to play with “ Toto” vocalist Joseph Williams, 70's hitmaker Randy VanWarmer and jam along side legendary bassist Marcus Miller. Having fell in love with Asia, Rick vowed to return someday.

Upon returning to the US, Rick met highly acclaimed world class vocalist Jane L. Powell and served as her guitarist/musical director for the next 5 years. Between stints cruising around the world with Ms. Powell Rick would travel on his own, this led him to Thailand for the first time in 1999. Repeated trips as a tourist confirmed his love for the Kingdom and he made it his home in 2003.

Though based in Bangkok, Rick is free to travel for the right opportunity.
