"My Space"

I am a 48 year-old unpublished songwriter with about 100 songs and 50 or 60 poems and many, many, fragments, prose meanderings and the like. My songs are registered with the U.S. Copyright Office and I am a registered songwriter/composer with the BMI performing rights association. I am constantly writing and adding to my catalogue and perform weekly in Lincoln at a local bar. I really enjoy music and guitars (only have 4 currently, but I'm working on more!! happiness is a good guitar!!)I also play harmonica to accomany myself on the guitar a la Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen style. If you feel the urge to talk about songwriting, music, guitars, harmonicas, or just want to say hello, feel free to drop by my little niche here on myspace!! - RW

"Nashville Songwriters Festival"

I am interested in meeting folks with similar interests i.e. songwriting, music, guitar, harmonicas, music publishing, performing, or any other topic related to the wonderful world of the songwriter. Also, I would be delighted to hear from any fellow FestHeads who were at the Nashville Songwriters Festival 2005, I personally had a great time and would like to hear about your experiences there at the Fest! Hope to hear from you soon! - Festhead

"Nashville Songwriters Festival"

"No sweat, I completely understand about innovative technology and how annoying it can be at times. I sometimes think AOL stands for Always Out of Luck. Can't live with it................etc. I (we) highly appreciate the time you take to answer emails from the little guys. We can't begin to thank you enough for all you do, without you we wouldn't even have a Fest to enjoy. If some folks around here see my pics up in lights, maybe I can get them to caravan on down to the Fest this year from Lincoln. For 2005 it was just myself and two buddies in a van. But you know, sitting on Music Row with guitar in hand and actually playing my songs was an unbelievable experience. Keep on, keepin' it real, with the real deal. Yours in song..."

Bio

A native Kentuckian, Ricky is self-taught on both acoustic guitar and harmonica, bringing a rough-edged style that perfectly enhances the gritty, soulful lyrics on all his cuts. He emphasises that being a auto-didactic has its advantages and disadvantages.

Ricky grew up listening to his uncle play gospel and bluegrass on a Gibson J-45, and has been influenced by everything from country and bluegrass, to rock and roll and the blues. A singer/songwriter who truly enjoys just about every genre of music, although he has found his niche within acoustic contemporary (country, folk rock, americana).

The musical heroes Ricky most admires are Woodie Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Bruce Springsteen, though not necessarily in that order. Throughout the twenty years he has dedicated to songwriting to support the soul, while working his day job to maintain the body, the overpowering need to write has been a driving force for Ricky.

Author/composer of over one hundred songs and countless poems, narratives, thoughts, and articles, writing is a way of life for Big Rick, as some know him.
