RIFICA
“ Righteous In Faith In Crease Abundantly”

One could describe Justin “Rifica” Douglas' music as multi-faceted. His unique style of artistry is both versatile and nonconforming at the same time. ''I am a rapper whose ministry is mainly for the young crowd but I believe everyone can jam my music, teens and grandmas alike!” Rif says of himself...

Rifica's parents divorced when he was 5 years old. Consequently, he experienced a somewhat unbalanced childhood. ...Or it could be described as the perfect balance for what God planned to do in and through his life...

Joint custody granted, Rifica was raised on both sides of the tracks, per se'. During the school months Rif spent his weeks in Sugarland, TX (a suburb outside of Houston) attending school with the children of doctors, lawyers and CEO's. In the summer months and on weekends he was in the rough streets of South Park, a ghetto in Houston, TX. Having experienced both ends of the spectrum, Rifica was inspired to begin rapping at the tender of age 8.

Surrounded by Hip-Hop music most of his life, Rifica was influenced by gangster rap, which was popular at the time, his lyrics filled with hatred and violence. He began performing his material for his friends at school and encouragement from his peers fueled Rif's desire to become a future Hip-Hop mogul. In high school Rif recorded a demo, but was not allowed to pursue his desired career, for his mother (a Christian woman) would not allow it. Trying to be supportive of his dream, Rif's mother introduced him to Christian rap, but needless to say, he was not impressed...

Shortly after graduating from high school in the summer of 2002, the aspiring artist attended a youth conference, Spiritual Encounter, at his childhood church. There Rif had a true encounter with God. The Holy Spirit began to minister to him during a sermon delivered by a guest minister, Pastor Ben Gibert, informing him of his predestined calling and assignment. It was at that time that Rifica received the revelation that his natural ability to write and perform rap material was indeed a gift and was to be used in the Gospel arena. He was to give youth, teens, and young adults positive music to listen to, music that glorified God. Rif accepted his assignment willingly and wholeheartedly.

Like most young adults, during his early college career Rif did a lot of things that he was not proud of. Partying, drinking and promiscuity distracted him from his calling. The devil thought he'd won, but God's grace and mercy kept Rif covered. What was meant to derail Rifica's destiny ultimately became a vital component in a greater testimony.

Today Rif travels, ministering abroad, promoting the release of his sophomore album “The Standard”. His primary objective is to set a standard for the rap industry by creating positive music that all people can listen to, Christians and non-Christians alike. Rifica intends to “clean up the rap industry” by making gospel music that can compete with mainstream media and glorifying God with his life. By working with producers such as LabOx of LabOx music and Ted Flores of T-Flow Productions, the quality and presentation of “The Standard” is sure to grasp the attention of the predominant music arena and set a righteous standard in the industry.

Rifica accredits much of his success as an artist to those God surrounded him with early in his career, aiding him in his development, Mic D and NuCamp Entertainment, KLAK and Educator to name a few. He has been featured on several projects, including but not limited to NuCamp Entertainment's “DOP 2k3,” KLAK's “Life Death Love” and Educator's “No Compromise.”

Rifica is truly a young entertainer after God's own heart, striving to be the standard of righteousness to a generation without a God Consciousness. “I thank God for helping me rise above the sin I used to have in my life. I'm just a cat who can relate to a variety of people with the anointing and talent to write and rap what God has given me.”
