"Self-titled debut album & the storm on the horizon"

Self-titled debut album & the storm on the horizon
Their first album was a collection of great original rock and roll songs, bathed in the blood of ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Black Crowes, and dried off with a country twang straight from the delta. But, if these two songs—“Not Alone” and “She’s Righteous”—are any indication of what is to come from the Righteous Hillbillies, we can excitedly attempt to rest without a moment’s peace, while anticipating the rock and roll storm forming on the horizon. The debut, self-titled album was simply a preview of what is to come—foreplay for the ultimate aphrodisiac the boys have been cooking up. Indeed; songwriters Brent and Kevin were just getting warm.

Illinois Entertainer Around Hear Review March 2009
The Righteous Hillbillies are blessed with Southern rock talent in the tradition of The Black Crowes (evident from opener “Black Jack Mama”) and ZZ Top (clearly on “Mexican Rodeo”) during its 10-song, self-titled debut. The ballad “I’m Not Feeling You” tempers the rowdy good time, and slide guitar highlights a catchy, square-danceable chorus on “Cassie.” The production sparkles throughout for the band, which has clearly honed its sound live. by Jason Scales

"The vocals on I'm not feelin' you are dead on!"
DEAN RESTUM
Former Musical Director/Guitarist for Eric Burdon & the Animals.

“The Hillbillies are one of the most exciting bands around! A perfect blend of great song writing and performance art."
Todd D. Boss
Bossman 98.3 WCCQ

"Congrats on making great music. We don't get enough good ole rock and roll in here anymore"

Bio

The Righteous Hillbillies are an axe shredding, ace dealing, foot stompin’, Southern rock, high-powered Americana, boogie blues band that plays with talent and passion. They have built a strong, supportive, and loyal following throughout their hometown of Joliet, Illinois and into the Chicago area, and received three standing ovations while opening for The Charlie Daniels Band. The Righteous Hillbillies baptize their work in the blood of Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, ZZ Top, and the Black Crowes while still managing to create an original and independent style. They make rock “n” roll music for people who still believe in rock “n” roll music. Their well crafted songs and quality of playing has earned the respect of musicians from every genre of music, while many have become an extended family of the band. Lead vocalist Brent James sings with the power to push bodies against the wall and the sensitivity to stir the souls that reside within those bodies. Guitarist, Kev Wright plays with a controlled and confrontational ferocity that is nearly catastrophic, as if the devil himself allowed guitar players in that Georgia picking competition, Charlie Daniels made famous. The Rhythm section of Kenny Gerk and Johnny Gadeikis provide the steadiest of foundations to the wildness and acrobatic rock flamboyance in every show.

The Righteous Hillbillies are prepared to raise the stakes from entertainment to that old time rock and roll religion. If it doesn’t get you dancing, moving, and singing, you might as well sign your “do not resuscitate” order at the nearest opportunity.
