Bio
"Right On John" is the stage name of Portland, OR based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist John McColley. Over the last four years or so, John has gone from terrorizing the local open mic scene to performing at numerous festivals and touring the US repeatedly.
John has performed at:
Steel Bridge Songfest (Sturgeon Bay, WI)
Deep Blues Music and Film Festival (Minneapolis, MN)
Rogue Valley Blues Festival (Ashland, OR)
Cherry City Music Festival (Salem, OR)
Cigar Box Guitar Fest (Walla Walla, WA)
...just to name a few.
John has also released three albums and been featured on several compilations.
John grew up in rural Indiana and started playing piano at the age of ten. Shortly after, he started playing guitar, drums, lap steel, horns...just about anything he could get his hands on.
John's obsession with live performance started early too. By sixteen, he was playing shows in local all-ages venues with his first band "Soulforce".
John currently performs one-man band style shows under the name "Right On John". He also plays homemade upright bass and cigar box guitar with "Cicada Omega" and drums for "Miss Lonelyhearts".
