Well hell...I've been fronting this deranged cowboy blues band called the Roadhouse Clams for the past several years now, playing my Telecaster like a drunk nun, belting out meaninglessly dangerous lyrics, and generally making a lot of noise, mainly for my own benefit.
But this solo thing is 100% mine, baby. I write what makes sense to me, what makes me laugh, what I secretly wish for, and what I'd like to kick in the teeth with reckless abandon. My therapist says calls this "healthy purging". Go figure.
I get inspired by the simple things in life: beach bars, fast cars, good tequila, unexplainable love, warm weather, palm trees, smart women, and just about any form of good creativity.
Some of the artists/bands I like to listen to are The Stones, John Hiatt, Eva Cassidy, Waylon, Dead Kennedys, Dirtyheads, Santana, Grant Lee Buffalo, Elton John, Chuck Berry, Alabama Shakes, Simon & Garfunkel, K. Chesney, Social Distortion, Fleet Foxes, Pixies, Jimmy Buffett, Rush, Eliza Gilkyson, Bombadil, Dwight Yoakam, and some obvious ones that everyone else says, like Johnny Cash, Bob Marley, The Clash, & The Beatles.
On the downside, I drive too fast, I drink too much, and I think I'm funnier than I probably am
