Bio

Rikki Blu is no stranger to adversity. So when the then 18-year old found himself nearly 700 miles from his hometown of Dallas, TX in Murfreesboro, TN a year after the death of his mother, facing circumstances many would deem overwhelming misfortune, Blu saw an opportunity to build and capitalize. Armed with a personality larger than his six-foot eight-inch frame, Rikki soon conquered Middle Tennessee State University’s social hierarchy. Attracting the attention of professional partiers, he became the staple and one of the most-requested hosts of central Tennessee’s college club scene, where his stature, charisma and almost-childlike spirit amassed a loyal following. Growing up back home in Dallas, surrounded by his no-nonsense father, benevolent mother, hard-working eldest sister and free-spirited older brother, Rikki struggled to find his place as the runt of the litter. His path and personality is one that would be ultimately shaped by his love to express himself over a variety of mediums. Whether it was through music production, storytelling or being the adventurous goofball that landed him in a number of sticky situations as a child, Rikki gave himself to everyone and everything around him. Nearly three years after first landing in Tennessee, facing episodes that would ultimately try, break and strengthen his faith and resolve, Rikki Blu has risen to substantial acclaim through the one thing in his life that has survived every episode: music. He’s carved out his own path – raising the standard of hip-hop and expression in the small southern market of Tennessee with the support of his fans and team and his own insatiable hunger and determination. From couch-hopping with his producers and brothers-in-arms, The House, to an accident that totaled the car he paid for with the small inheritance from his mother’s passing, the only thing that seems to have remained intact is Rikki Blu’s irrepressible spirit, permeating through his distinguishing smile and heartfelt lyrics. After a year’s worth of singles, features and general mixtape tracks, Rikki unveiled his first project, XXXIII, executively produced by friend and burgeoning superstar in-his-own-right, Cody Jordan. It was well-received, featured on countless blogs and music sites including TheSource.com and YouHeardThatNew.com and ultimately led Blu to open for Ab-Soul in New York’s historic S.O.B.’s, where he won the crowd over with that signature charisma and heart-wrenching honesty. His buzz has since sprung significantly and it seems collectively understood that his time is near. Rikki Blu is a giant among men in many senses, raising the bar to a standard few artists are neither willing nor capable to reach. His patience and desire to share his story of tragedy, triumph and transcendence is larger than life and it won’t be long before the whole world knows it and is singing along.
