What's the meaning behind the band's name?Well the name some what speaks for itself. I use to go by PROPHET but i found trouble trying to brand that name. So, one day i sat and I thought... What do i want the people to remember me for? What do i want them to think of when they think of me? As an artist what do i stand for? And just like that it hit me. REAL LYRICS plain and simple. But i wasnt done there, i still wanted to brand myself with something unique. I thought of the word ill, a word often used to describe a rapper with wit and skill. "Can We Talk! Radio has had the pleasure of knowing RILL LYRICS since January 2008. When we first met this artist, he was performing at an open mic hosted by Can We Talk! Radio at Babylon Futbol. His performance was captivating to say the least. He gave a show stopping performance with a vast variety of content. Born and raised in New Jersey, Rill Lyrics developed his ingenious verbal wit on street corners in various ciphers. This artist/entrepreneur is consistently growing and redefining himself as he branches out to songwriting and poetry to showcase his versatility.
Influenced by legends such as Tupac, Biggie and Jay-Z, Rill Lyrics (formally known as PROPHET) is often compared to legendary artists such as Nas, Big L, and MOS DEF because of his lyrical ability.
After majoring in Business Marketing at Virgina State University, Rill moved to the DMV metropolitan area, broadened his performance career and also became an influential and founding member of a large movement known as 95 Connect. 95 Connect linked artists and producers from NJ and the DMV areas. With time, he was able to incorporate publishers and graphic designers from both areas and positioned three of the six original members to sign record deals.
As a solo artist, Rill is truly an entertaining, skillful artist with a dynamic stage presence and is more than a force to be reckoned with. He continuously proves himself to be a true, genuine, and relate-able artist with a number of shows and musical releases under his belt. After the successful release of The Future of Hip-Hop Vol. 1 (2009), he's established and continues to run Rill Connected Entertainment L.L.C. which is a record label and publishing company. He also operates Q.V.S. Studios, a Multimedia company specializing in recording, video production, and photography.
Concurrently with his business ventures, Rill Lyrics is the host of The 5 O'clock Mix Up on WLVS Radio (listenvisionlive.com 5pm Tuesdays EST) and is officially releasing The Future of Hip-Hop Vol. 2 in November 2013.
