Biography

Riots on Broadway is the one-man brainchild of singer/producer/multi instrumentalist Conor Kelly who began his career producing demos and doing live sound for experimental bands such as the Asian Jesus and Gunshots by Computer.

After moving to Vancouver, Conor found work as a studio engineer at Harbourside studios where he honed his craft before he was laid off in the middle of recording his debut. Without a studio he scrapped the album and started work on a new set of songs christening it "Riots on Broadway". Unable to find available musicians to join his new incarnation, Conor decided to make it a one-man band featuring electronic drums, synths, dub basslines and frenetic guitar and sitar solos in addition to his soaring rock voice. He has been dazzling audiences around the Vancouver area ever since.

Lyrics

The Unknown

Written By: Conor Kelly

Verse:

I'm so lost, don't know if I want to be found
Fade away, without making a sound
Can't distinguish the truth from the obvious lie
Too frightened to live, too frightened to die

As I'm falling

Chorus:

Falling into the Unknown
Into the Unknown
I'm crawling into the Unknown

Can't see what's in front of me
Can't feel what's beside me
Don't know what's inside of me
Can't escape what's behind me

Verse 2:

Is anything real, or is it all an illusion?
Misguided hopes, anarchy and confusion
Don't know if there is meaning
Don't know if there's control
Don't know if it's all pre-ordained
Or just an empty hole

Chorus:

As I'm Falling into the Unknown
Into the Unknown
I'm crawling into the Unknown

Can't see what's in front of me
Can't feel what's beside me
Don't know what's inside of me
Can't escape what's behind me

I'm Falling into the Unknown
Into the Unknown
I'm crawling into the Unknown

Can't see what's in front of me
Can't feel what's beside me
Don't know what's inside of me
Can't escape what's behind me

Ghost

Written By: Conor Kelly

Verse:

Consequences, facing them alone
Nothing but a worthless waste of flesh and bone
Watching the world slowly shatter
Even though it'll never matter

It'll never matter
It'll never matter
It'll never matter
Because we are

Chorus:

Looking like a ghost in the rise
It's all that we'll ever be
Looking like a ghost in the rise
Nothing but a distant memory
Just a memory

Verse 2:

Drifting down the same dirt road again
Dead ends at every turn
Can't kill the cycle of desperation
Hands around our throat, slow suffocation

It'll never matter
It'll never matter
It'll never matter
Because we are

Chorus:

Looking like a ghost in the rise
It's all that we'll ever be
Looking like a ghost in the rise
Nothing but a distant memory
Just a memory
Just a Memory

It'll never go away
It'll never go away
It'll never go away
Because we are

Looking like a ghost in the rise (It'll never go away)
It's all that we'll ever be (It'll never go away)
Looking like a ghost in the rise (It'll never go away)
Nothing but a distant memory (It'll never go away)
Just a memory
Just a memory

The Radio Song

Written By: Conor Kelly

Verse:

Let the hacks have their reign
Cliche after cliche driving everybody insane
Making everything sound exactly the same
You have no balls and you have no shame you

Pre Chorus:

Narcissistic corporate bitches
Narcissistic corporate bitches
Narcissistic corporate bitches
Narcissistic corporate bitch

Chorus:

Fuck the Radio!
It's nothing but shit
Fuck the Radio!
Another shallow vacuous hit
Fuck the Radio!
There's no soul and there's no grit
Fuck the Radio!
There's no escaping it

Post Chorus:

Conformity
No Integrity
Standardized
and Sterilized

Imitate and Replicate
Replicate and Imitate yeah
Auto-tune and exacerbate
Duplicate and regurgitate you

Narcissistic corporate bitches
Narcissistic corporate bitches
Narcissistic corporate bitches
Narcissistic corporate bitch

Chorus:

Fuck the Radio!
It's nothing but shit
Fuck the Radio!
Another shallow vacuous hit
Fuck the Radio!
There's no soul and there's no grit
Fuck the Radio!
There's no escaping it

Conformity
No Integrity
Standardized
and Sterilized
