Erin Michael Rioux (ree-yoo) makes psychedelic music that straddles the line between pop and the electronic avant-garde. At ten years old he asked his parents to enroll him in guitar lessons. Three years later a four-track tape recorder was left behind in his basement. He started experimenting and hasn’t stopped since.

The organic and electronic sound of Rioux began in suburban Michigan where he spent his teenage years making bedroom recordings. Besides playing in a variety of post-punk and lo-fi bands, Erin made sound collages, exploring his own style of beat-driven psychedelia and drone pop. At 16 he went to Germany and fell in love with the country’s electronic music scene as well as its kraut-rock legacy. In 2008 he moved to New York City to study recorded music and met video artist Josh Cabrido. On a road trip through California the two struck on the idea of merging their crafts. In the live setting Erin appears on stage with a guitar, trumpet, mic, laptop, and drum pads. Cabrido’s projections illuminate the performance with washes of original and found footage edited to the beat.

Over the summer of 2010 Rioux released three EPs and four singles in addition to completing his first full-length album, Everything You Need Is Right Here. It will be the duo’s first multimedia release, due out January 17th on vinyl and DVD as an audiovisual album. “My state of mind changed a lot during the making of the record. It was a time of personal growth.” Everything You Need Is Right Here is the Rioux’s most stunning artistic statement to date, both wildly adventurous and refreshingly universal.
