Bio
Rip Rowan has been a composer and musician since 1986. He has scored sound-for-theater, performed in numerous rock bands as drummer and keyboardist, and produced several of Dallas' most influential bands.
His new solo efforts, heavily influenced by DJ Mark Farina and the Supreme Beings of Leisure, are a lateral departure into the world of downtempo electronic jazz. Hard to classsify, immediately recognizable, the music is too cool to be called "lite jazz", too sensuous to be "electronica", and too thought-provoking to be ignored. Sounds range from smooth backbeats with jazz trumpet to middle-eastern percussion backing electronica solos.
