"Trading sorrows for the Lord"

Trading sorrow for the Lord

At 6 p.m. the music starts without warning. A powerful blast shakes people from their summer lethargy and the sweltering heat this Sunday evening at the Edmonton Central Community Church….
“We’re going to trade our sorrow for the joy of the Lord,” Jaster sings as he strokes the lead guitar in a six-piece band....
His voice, strong and melodic, rises as the crowd gets to its feet and sings along.
….Maybe the church’s growth is linked to the live music; members of the congregation stand and sway to the rhythm of the band, arms extended high, palms spread, lyrics pouring passionately from their mouths.

"Music to Move You"

From a pleasurable listening experience 'Risen From The Ashes' made an aspiring and entertaining evening at the 2004 Festival of Carols. The band members have paid their dues through life's struggles to rise to a new and positive plateau. Very impressed with their professional sound during their night on CJXF Community Radio. Risen from the Ashes have found a new home on our station's playlist.

"New Release"

Risen From The Ashes is the self-titled debut CD from a Canadian Christian band whose songs are born from a deep personal experience and encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ. Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Risen from the Ashes features Murray Jaster/guitar & vocals, Ray Mailman/lead guitar, Rod Hayward/rhythm guitar, Dean Jaster/bass guitar, Larry Brown/keyboards, Joseph Jenkins/percussion. The CD is about the Lord Jesus Christ and His power to raise - not just to resurrected life, but to raise us from trials, troubles and worldly despair, to abundant and liberated life here and now
(1 Sam. 2:8: - “from the ash heap, to set them among princes and make them inherit the throne of glory”). Ten songs bring this message to life, from the rockin’ “I Walk By Faith” to the ballad “Your Beloved”, the songs on Risen From The Ashes are always heartfelt and personal. With a guitar based sound and passionate and committed vocals, Risen From The Ashes is a CD that speaks directly from the heart to the heart.

"Absolutely Wonderful"

This is by far one of the best CD's I've listened to in years. - Steven Brown - Christian Music Weekly

"A Fan"

This is probably the best Christian music that i've heard...especially because it has a good voice and beat, its not saying you have to do this, or you have to do that. - Reviewer: Katherine Paridaen

"Amazing and Inspirational"

Amazing and Inspirational are the first words that come to mind

From the thought provoking, I Need to Be Still to the high energy I Walk By Faith and Champion Of Love - this band rocks. The guitar work and percussions are amazing and the tightness of their arrangements reflects the years of experience each band member has. This is not just a great Christian CD - it is a great CD

Risen From The Ashes

Risen From The Ashes are Pop, Country, and Rock tossed into a blender at high speed , writes one fan, and he hit the nail on the head. Risen From The Ashes cranks out powerful, and inspired "Contemporary Christian Music." You know, blistering ballads and micro-anthems that embody the basic Pop Rock, with a Rock and Roll aesthetic face lift. Ultimately, it is Risen From The Ashes’ live show that generates the most enthusiastic reviews. "Like your best friend's older brother's cool band . . . It’s a blast, the difference is in experiencing the raw emotion and feeling the presence of the spirit move with the message within their songs."

Risen From The Ashes is an Edmonton, AB based band with a close affinity to walking alongside those who struggle with addictions and recovery issues with a message of hope and restoration. Understanding first hand the devastating effects of addictions, experiencing the gift of salvation, they continue to work as pastors, counsellors, and teachers. The band originally formed in 2000, as a praise and worship band for Edmonton Crossroads Community Church (an inner city church plant assisting many who struggle with addictions and recovery issues), and consists of Murray Jaster (vocal/acoustic guitar); Ray Mailman (vocals/lead guitar); Larry Brown (keyboards); Dean Jaster(bass/piano); Dawn Jaster (percussion) and Joseph Jenkins (drums).

Their music and songs are impacting congregations across the world since their award winning debut release in 2004. As Risen From The Ashes’ continues to be an inspiration in worship and concert settings, they are committed to the role God has placed on their lives. Whether it's providing new songs for praise & worship or mentoring those in addictions, they are quickly becoming one of the defining artists of this generation.

"We can look back on the past few years of writing and performing songs and see what God has been doing in our lives," says Jenkins. "It's just like journaling. It's a part of us and it is how God speaks to not only us, but those we share that message and purpose with. But on top of that, when you've poured out your heart to God in a little church somewhere, and then one day you hear how something you did impacted someone’s life, it's a great encouragement, but even more so it’s evident how God uses us in His time.

We are becoming more confident and even more passionate about trying to write songs in a way that many different people can identify with. It’s not about any one individual, it is having our eyes towards God - letting all that we do be an inspired heartfelt response to God, and using His inspiration that may help others in their lives to find peace and joy."
