Bio

If you are homesick for the Caribbean and want to go on a musical journey, then Rising Sun Reggae Band is the remedy. This talented group of musicians started in 1993 in an old 2nd floor apartment with 2 drums, a bass, a guitar and 2 mikes. Delroy the band leader had a vision. He wanted to write reggae music like Bob Marley and Dennis Brown. He wanted to have a group of musicians that had talent and the same dreams he had and ones that knew how to captivate an audience with their instruments and performance. The group came together under the name Rising Sun and spent just about every Sunday rehearsing for the first opportunity that would come their way. It came in the form of a Festival and since that first show the group took off and never looked back. They had their share of problems from drummers not showing up for gigs to sound system not working but still they persevered. Delroy wanted to be more than just a band that plays cover and so he started to write and produce music for the group. The first CD entitled "Serious" was released in 2002. He wanted the reggae world to know that Rising Sun Reggae Band is serious about the music they played and the plan to one day be the next reggae Icon. The album landed the group 5 awards from the annual
DC Reggae Awards, held in Washington DC by founder & CEO Tony Java. The second CD entitled "Beware" was released in 2006 and won 2 awards from the DC Reggae Awards. Groups and individuals like Dennis Brown, Gregory Issacs, Marcia Griffiths, Peter Tosh, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Sanchez, Beenie Man, George Michael, Sean Paul and Allison Hinds are some of the group's influences. Rising Sun Reggae Band is often remembered for the quality fo their performance. Satisfaction is guranteed every time the group hit the stage because each show is tailored to meet the needs of their guests. Rising Sun Reggae Band is a regular band at Seacrets night club in Ocean City Md. The lead vocalist has a voice that takes the band to higher heights. Rising Sun Reggae Band is committed to delivering quality Reggae music each and every time. "Let the melody and energy take you to a higher level" is the group's motto. High energy, enthusiasm and lots of entertainment is our recipe for a dynamite show.
