Exit Wounds

Written By: Drew Mercadante

So when did I become so fucking boring? Just another pawn that you have left behind, an image in the back of your mind.

If you could open your eyes as much as you opened your mouth you might see that your the only one who's laughing now.

So push me aside, cause I've gotten so old. I'm reeling from your ever present grasp, a clutch-hold on my throat, screaming in my face just tell her it's the same.

Reach out, I'm screaming I need to hear your cold voice again. I'm so tired of you and your games, I'm so tired of the same things.

In circles we run chasing each other around. Blacked out nights spent arguing with you, every time...

If I'm one inch away from relapse, I'd rather fall back on you than back to my old ways. I'm so desperate for your attention.

Reach out, I'm screaming I need to hear your cold voice again. I'm so tired of you and your games, I'm so tired of the same things.

To be completely honest, I still believe that there is hope left for you and me. If there's a way out I will see that you and me will be king and queen.

We can both see that your no good for me, it's plain to see. Fight, fight, fight, until I can't even look you in the eye. This isn't romance, this is war.

If our ship is going down, we'll run for our lives. If we must die among ocean depths, we'll be kings upon the main.

Atlantic

Written By: Drew Mercadante

November 12th, outside the bar. A pair of headlights staring down our unmarked car. Flakes of snow circle my head, sharing marlboro's and storys that were long dead.

If I crash my car, to the Atlantic, would it be tragedy or just make you happy?
If I drive my car, through the Atlantic, would it be tragedy or just make you happy?

If that's the way you treat me I won't stand you anymore. If that's the way you treat me I won't like this anymore.

So this is the end? I thought it was a new beginning but if that's what makes you happy, then that's the way it'll be.

If I crash my car, to the Atlantic, would it be tragedy or just make you happy?
If I drive my car, through the Atlantic, would it make you feel any fucking thing?

If that's the way you treat me I won't stand you anymore. If that's the way you treat me I won't like this anymore.

So maybe I was wrong, and this is all meaningless but if that's the case, then how would it affect me this way? I loved you like a brother but this is one after another, I can't stand to have you break me one more time.

Elephants

Written By: Drew Mercadante

I feel that we have grown to far apart to keep this relationship intact, I've grown far too sick of your act. Silence is golden and lord knows we could use some now. What was once trust is now empty space, it sickens me to look at your face.

I just want to say, I can't even deny the truth just face it I'm in love with you. We'll both make mistakes, I know, but we've come too far to end it now so hear me out and just let me know why falling in love feels so wrong. Does he have a softer touch? Does it hurt you too much to ask if I am better than him? Cause we both know the answer.

A cheat is nothing more than a poor excuse, don't deny the truth. Can't make a wife out of a whore, this is one more truth for confession booths.

For every bridge I've burned, I can't help but look back and now I see you on the other side. This emptiness I feel is from the loss of you. My narcissism has a body now, like when filter hits the flame, your cast aside.

Can I fall asleep again? Can I fall asleep for good? What have I become when I can't trust my own love anymore. Is it so hard to accept the fact I need you?

Garden State

Written By: Drew Mercadante

We were high and mighty, we owned the garden state. We were on our way to the top, but something caught a hold of me. We sat at anchorage casting stones out on the sea. She said she wanted some love, but she just wanted to be free.

Now it's too late to fall in love. The rain beats down upon my two headlights, so I close my eyes and put my car in drive. The road stretched on for miles and miles, but the wheels spun out and I can't stop them.

Turn the keys to ignition, hear that sputtering sound. We'll drive with all the windows down, wheels covering the ground. We used to drive in black cars, the road would scream our names. We stood tall like statues, but passion died in vain.

Now it's too late to fall in love. The rain beats down upon my two headlights, so I close my eyes and put my car in drive. The road stretched on for miles and miles, but the wheels spun out and I can't stop them.
