Rival Wife

A few years ago, around the fall of 2007, Grainaxe and Boltagon started a band and began upending the inactive into the attentive, via psychedelic hip-hop. Now this came on the heels of this incredible amount of individual home recordings ranging from psychedelic breakbeat electronica to indie noise rap and every bizarre genre in between. As far as the Universe is concerned, it was only inevitable that Boltagon (itchy finger on the rap trigger since writing the "1c131b" EP) would cross paths with Grainaxe (who'd been stockpiling an arsenal of beats up until then.) The band was to henceforth be known as RIVAL WIFE (The name is culled from the book of Leviticus, a part of the Bible that should be completely disregarded.) And so they began to create their first album, the aptly titled "Gentlemen, Start Your Election Year". It was released in December 2007 on SRBT Records. It contained four largely improvised tracks of multi-instrumental experimentation. It is out of print. During most of 2008 they shifted focus towards their individual sound experiments. Boltagon recorded something on the order of three full length albums. Grainaxe recorded one EP, one LP and one album with the band Lean Homosexual. Then the fall set in again. The Rival Wife brain kitchen re-opened and new tracks were served up. Then the new year set in again. January 2009: "Rival Wife EP" is recorded. February 2009: Rival Wife takes to the stage with intensely energetic live performances; minds are blown. March 2009: "Rival Wife EP" is released on SRBT Records. It features three furious tracks of anger and grace, including the band's first single, "Werewolves." The initial pressing sold out quickly but it is currently available for download on iTunes. To calm the masses, re-recorded and re-mixed versions of the three songs on the original Rival Wife EP, in addition to several previously unreleased tracks, will soon be available on the forthcoming album "Revival Wife." (The name is culled from being billed as such at several shows.) The new year will inevitably set in again. With it will come a host of determinably optimistic records. Growing organically from the collective bodiless concious and fueled by an ever widening distaste of pop atrocities. Forward thinking, forward feeling lyrics backed by orchestrated instrumentation spanning the musical spectrum as diversely as it spans the human emotional spectrum. This is RIVAL WIFE, they cannot be stopped.
