Bio

Lead singer/guitarist Izzy Rivers and drummer Cody James formed a band in 1997 having grown up together like many bands do. Bassist Bryan “BB” (Big Bass) Seeley joined in 2001. Izzy left, members changed, but in 2005, Rivers and James reunited and formed a new band, calling themselves RIVERBEND. Their namesake was born out of the name of the neighborhood where Izzy was raised in Northbend, Washington. Lead guitarist Aaron Balsley completed the band, joining in September 2010.

“We used to text absurd names like ‘The Mouse King’s Cheese’ to each other for album names,” laughs Seeley. “SLEEPWALKER”, their sophomore follow up to their self-titled first release is cognizant of Rivers’ recurrent night terrors.

Their song “151” came about after speaking to Creative Artists Agency in 2008.
“We were told we sounded too Seattle, too grunge.” states Seeley and adds James, “They wanted us more like Nickelback.” Rivers went on to say, “That song literarily came together quickly. It is basically a reflection of our past having to do with ‘151’ and partying, and we are beyond that now. The three of us all took part in that dark half of our lives. Aaron contributed heavily to the song being what it is on the album.”

“I Can See Through You” was shelved and revitalized when Aaron came on board. “I fell in love with the song the second I heard it. I'm a huge fan of
mid-tempo, groovy rock songs that just cause you to stop and listen. That's what it did for me anyway. ” comments Aaron.

“Tell It To A Woman” is a song close to Izzy’s heart. “It’s about my past ex losing herself while I went crazy trying to understand her thoughts while losing my love for the particular relationship.”

RiverBend has worked hard to earn the respect of their fans and peers, headlining countless shows, opening for bands such as Daughtry, Tantric, HURT, The Presidents of the United States and performing at the 2007 and 2008 Layne Staley Tribute Concerts.

They have steadily gained a national following, garnering local accolades as one of KING-5 TV's 2008 and 2009 Best of Western Washington winners, also winning Bob Rivers and radio station KZOK's 'BEST LOCAL BAND CONTEST' in 2009 and receiving several Hot Rocks TV Awards that same year.

They continue to make a name for themselves, and with standout songwriting, solid musicianship and unmatched vocal talent, they have built a fan base that spans generations and genres, fast becoming a favorite among the many talented bands coming out of the Northwest.
