Bio
River Eater was formed in the spring of 2009 by drummer and singer Michael Doherty and guitarist Dakota Wayne. A quite different beast entirely, the group shifted when bassist Alec Newell joined that fall and again the next year, taking on multi-instrumentalist Evan Marre. Since then, they have been playing out at local coffee shops, colleges, and small venues, and working on honing their writing talent and sound. Described as "ethereal, yet intense, with haunting melodies that shift slightly at every chord," their music has been ever growing from solid indie rock to something more elusive. Influenced heavily by Radiohead, Fleet Foxes, Anathallo, and Grizzly bear, as well as classical composers and jazz, River Eater never hesitates to experiment, and most of all, put on a great show. They are gearing up to self release their debut self-titled EP, which was recorded in Saratoga Springs by John Nazarenko, and mixed in Purchase, NY by Trevor Fedele. Look at for it this summer!
